Howdy y'all -

Here's this week's Kicksville release, Nameless Jack: https://kicksville.bandcamp.com/track/nameless-jack

The lyrics Andy Ewen wrote for this tune are a memorial to a young man who used to come see Andy play with his band, Honor Among Thieves. "Jack" was a bit confused, always searching for meaning in his life, and he ultimately found it in a very dark place. Even though the lyrics are loosely based on a real person, the idea is universal - at some point or another, we've all looked for Something Meaningful, but luckily, most of us didn't go down the same path as "Jack"....

cheers

Love the groove. I'm not keen on the lyrics though.

Thanks, Guitarpima....I can understand. I'll say this though - Andy wanted us to be circumspect about the real story, but this forum is enough off the beaten path that I don't think he'll mind me explaining. To me, that story is what frames the lyrics....otherwise, they don't make much sense.

The deal is, the guy we're calling Jack ended up joining the Heaven's Gate cult, and offed himself along with the rest of 'em. So the line, "Lifted from the ground" and all that is Jack headed up to meet the aliens on the other side of the Hale-Bopp comet. Sorta gives the lyrics a different connotation, y'know?

Thanks for checking out the tune, though - glad you at least dug the groove!

He's a communist? Heaven's gate sucked too... But Heaven's gate only killed a few dozen people? Communism has killed "millions..." Stay focused people? "Millions..." Tens of millions? He won't want to admit to that, just that "it should have been done better?" And if we could only do it perfectly? Utopia... Not where you want to live.

umm.....OK.... Not sure what economic philosophy and a bad movie have to do with anything posted here.

Trust me... It's not where you want to live... Regardless of what your song sounds like. "Kicky" or not? You don't want someone shooting you in the head because they don't like it. And that's where it ends my friend. Just ask North Korea? Try to put out a "Kicksville" song there that doesn't praise the dear leader? You know what happens? (It's not good...)

Sorry, I would not comment so if not for this,

"If Capitalism is so great, how come three fourths of the world live in poverty?
There has been, and will only ever be, one god (see my avatar)"

It's nothing against you personally? But if Adolph Hitler commented on your post? I would be critical of him too... And if you personally don't make money? And aren't paid by someone else, only the government? Then I understand... "Completely."

Good luck Comrade? I hope the state likes your music, and I hope many of the proletariat listen and enjoy (for free of course?) I hope your music is approved by the general counsel? And I hope they distribute it for all to enjoy freely? As the workers should. Emphasis on the word "freely..." We should not have profit on music or anything else Comrade...

Dos Bedonias...

----------------

If my word have offended "anyone?" I'm sure I will be taken out in a field and shot in the head (as I should be) shortly. You've gotta love Communism? So efficient?

-----------------

On the actual song? I'm sorry, I did not listen Comrade? But if you actually take the time "Comrade?" To enjoy some offerings by the proletariat? "Comrade?" And offer blessings to the dear leader? Then perhaps I will count you worthy, and not someone who should be considered for crimes against the state?

It's not hard Comrade? Just click some of the links of your fellow workers? And comment on their work. Unless you think you're better than your brother workers? That would be a potentially dangerous mistake Comrade... NO ONE IS BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE! To think so is Capitalist propaganda!!! We are very clearly "all the same."

Not the place for this, man. Don't like the song? Fine - feel free to bash it all you want. Want to get into a political debate? Go back to yelling at people on Facebook or whatever you do to get your jollies - don't bring it here.

Editing your posts is just digging yourself into a deeper hole, tovarisch. Again, not the place for this debate, period.

After the many thousands of supportive posts you've received here? I almost can't believe your incredulity? "Comrade?" Hey, "edit this?"
=== "Edit"

I personally think you and the communist "Prima" should move to an island where you can create a workers paradise? Where no one will be paid for their music, or their performance? And you can all sit around a campfire (well that would contribute to warming?) Let's make it a hug circle, where everyone can conserve warmth and not contribute to any planetary issues... You know what I mean? And I hope the two of you can adopt? And raise a wonderful family... Really? I wish you all the best, both of you.

----Edit

I'm sorry for that right there Lord.

----Edit again,

Oh I'm sorry, one last thing? I hope the only entertainment you two have is a copy of George Michael s doing "Wake me up before you go go, with those "Chose Life" tee shirts? That would be epic, and fitting.

*Last edit, I promise?

Huh? Now I'm really confused. Pretty sure I didn't indicate any "incredulity" when I said this isn't the place for politics (or 2nd grade schoolboy name calling, for that matter). What am I supposed to be incredulous about, anyway?
