The problem is that even if Gibson lets those of us who haven't updated in a while, pay for a final update to get the most up to date final version of Sonar, who knows how long Gibson is going to keep the servers active.  I can pay for an update and then not be able to re-authorize my version if I have some kind of a crash or disk failure and have to re-install sonar.  It can be tomorrow - it can be a month from now or a year - as long as sonar is using an online auth scenario and not just a pure serial number, then it's really just walking on ice at the moment.

Yes Keni,

I have actually never seen anything like this in Business .. and I own my own business for a long time. I cant get my head around it, how a business can treat a loyal longtime customer base in such a callous manner. From Gibson (?) it smacks of pure arrogance

Its just incredible.

Yes... and they once again lose more customer faith!

Very true that there is no good long term solution... There is no long term!

So anything we can get to postpone the inevitable is appreciated by me as I continue to be unhappy working in any of the other DAWs I know of...

I would like it if they simply released one last update that removes the license dating completely so what you have can always be re-installed even if they shut down the servers.... Seems it would remove some obligations for them in the long run too and would go a long way toward preserving customer faith...?
