Illustrations are easily readable on the desktop nook application... ( I am using a 21.4 inch screen though ).  My favorite thing about e-books..

1.  They never get lost, damaged, worn out, or other losses.
2.  Accessible in your library, anywhere in the world.
3.  Search, using the speed of a computer for anything you have bookmarked, highlighted, annotated.  Even search for phases, and topics you have not bookmarked, highlighted, and annotated.

When you are vacationing at the beach, and enjoying an ice cold Pina Colada, and are reading your favorite author...  than a nice paperback is probably the way to go.....  :-)

For a reference guide to your audio software..  the e-book benefits are hard to beat imo...

Hi Muziekschuur -- it looks like Linear Phase already provided a nice answer about eBooks, but if you have any other questions, just let me know. Thanks!

Hi Zonno -- no, there's isn't an epub version because that format is unprotected. The ebook is only available in protected formats. I don't actually have an eInk eReader, so I can't say for sure, but I know a lot of people have gotten the book for the Amazon Kindle eInk reader and as far as I know, the images look fine. I do have the Kindle reader software on PC and the images look fine with that. Thanks!

Hi Linear Phase -- thanks for that great eBook explanation!

Scott --

What are the chances that Sonar X2 Power book can be made available in spiral bound?  There are some very nice ways to do this now.

Much easier that way to go from the book to the screen and back again.

+1 for spiral bound. All manuals should be released in this format!

Hi Chuck and J,

I can certainly ask the publisher about it and let them know that there was a request for spiral bound, but I'm 99% sure it won't happen. Publishers who are selling books to consumers want people to be able to see the book title on the spine when those books are sitting on the bookstore shelves. Textbooks and course ware for school don't matter as much because students are forced to purchase specific titles, so the publishers don't have to worry as much about promotion.

There could also be additional costs involved, which would also make a big difference to the publisher. So, I'll definitely ask, but it probably won't happen. Sorry...

Thanks!

Well that makes sense. Guess the only alternative would be to print out the PDF and bind it ourselves.

Scott ---

There is a spiral binding type that has a spine/cover that covers the spiral part.

Not sure what the cost would be but I personally am willing to pay an additional $5-$10 more for that convenience.

Couple of examples here:
