Can you please provide some additional information?

1.  Are these projects from prior releases, and if so, which prior releases?

2.  What is the makeup of these projects?  Midi?  Audio?  Mix?

3.  What are your interface sample rate and Sonar sample rate set to?

4.  What is the ASIO buffer size set to in your interface?

5.  What audio driver mode are you using in Sonar?  WDM or ASIO?

6.  Does this occur when you start a new project?  If not sure, then please create a new project with the Normal project template, insert an audio track, bring that track into focus, import an audio file - such as an MP3 tune, to that audio track, then hit play and post back as to whether or not that plays back with sound and no glitches.

7.  What Windows 7 64-bit flavor are you using?  (Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate, Starter), and what service pack are you running on whatever Windows version you are using.

8.  Do you have any other applications running that use audio, at the same time you are opening projects in Sonar, and do you have the box checked in preferences in Sonar to allow Sonar to share the audio processing with other applications?

9.  Outside of Sonar, does Windows Media Player play back tunes running through your audio interface?  Do they sound OK?

10. Was your installation of Windows 7 a clean install, or either an upgrade or re-install?

11.  What version of audio interface drivers are you running?

12.  Do you have an antivirus program running during Sonar audio sessions?

Sorry for all the questions, I am just trying to get a larger sense of your system, to help me to assist you.

to add a couple things:

How long does the white screen appear? What hardware do you have connected to your PC that you use with Sonar?

I'm sure there are any number of potential causes, but this was happening to me a lot recently any time I tried opening a project with my new My Passport external hard drive plugged in.

1. The project is from X1... 2. Midi an Audio. 3. Sample rate 44.1 on both. 4. Asio buffer size set to 128 when recording. 5. Audio driver mode..Asio. 6. Yes it happens with a new project but with no audio glitches. 7. Windows 7/64bit pro. 8. No other apps are running. Box not checked to allow. 9. Yes, the tunes sound great. 10. A clean install. 11. The most up to date one that Echo Audio has. 12. No Anti-virus.

One possibility is that a plug in is locking you up.

You can hold shift while you click OPEN, and Sonar will ask you 1 by 1 which plug-ins to load. You can say yes or no to each.

If you have a lot of plug ins, you may have to do some trial and error to figure out which one is causing the problem.  One approach is to say yes to the first half and no to the second half to narrow down which group the bad plug is in.  Then next time, divide the bad group in half, etc. until you figure out which plug it is.  You never know, but it is less likely to be the extremely popular and stable ones like Guitar Rig, etc.  I had a lot of trouble with Fantom and ARX but that was V-Studio related and I don't think that applies to you.

I don't see a lot of virutal isntruments or exotic plug ins listed in your signature, but people don't always list all the software due to space constraints.

I will try that Konrad! Thanks!

This happens to me whenever I load KONTAKT with a larger sample base (like multi mic'ed drumkits or multi velocity - multi mic'ed grand pianos)... I simply interpret this as some minor bug in the GUI because in time the white screen goes away and the interface is drawn and all systems are go.

Can you try going into Preferences and checking the box to tell Sonar to share with other applications?  Just seeing if that makes any difference for you.

My theory is that if the GUI thread is suspended for a certain time that there's an interrupt that causes the white screen.  When loading lots of samples or accessing large files, especially on slower machines or disk drives this can occur temporarily causing the white screen until the GUI thread resumes execution.  So I don't think it's a problem, you should be able to safely ignore it.

Or I could be completely wrong.
