I agree with Alex

Sound like the computer picked something up somewhere.

Hello All,

Thanks for your suggestions.  I've had my computer cleaned out by a professional repair service, gotten rid of malware, checked the registries, etc., but nothing has worked so far.

I think I maybe I should just buy a different manufacturer's audio interface and hope that driver doesn't collide with the Roland driver.  Anyone have any thoughts on this plan?  Any suggestions for audio interfaces?  M-Audio looks like they make some pretty good products.  I have one of their midi devices and I haven't had any complaints.

Thanks everyone, for your time!

Dan

Well if you were close I have a spare UA1G I havent touched in a couple years that you could try out to see if yours is cooked.

As for my thoughts on others, Ive been an MAudio guy because of cost and features.  I have the FTU and am happy with it

Hello Mike, If you have a good throwing arm, would you be willing huck your old UA-1G over several state lines towards the DC metropolitan area? I'll run a post pattern. Sorry, which M-Audio product is the "FTU?" Thanks! Dan

The Fast Track Ultra
I believe its changed to something else but for the money and Inputs and other features, for me it was hard to beat for a Home studio for just messing around

Uninstall the driver.
Make sure the UA-1G is not connected when you re-install the driver. Make sure you have the latest version of the driver.

Hello,

I am having issues with my UA-1G.  Everything was working fine until my daughter disconnected the unit from the USB port and switched the Advanced Driver to off.  As a result, I couldn't hear any audio or MIDI.  I didn't know what I was doing when I went to rectify the issue, so I tried to reinstall the driver.

I've disabled all other sound drivers (Microsoft High Definition Audio Device, my M-Audio Midisport Uno - this is for my keyboard controller - and the NVIDIA High Definition Audio).  Every time I go to install the UA-1G driver, I get a message that says an error occurred and I need to uninstall the driver, restart the computer, and reinstall it.  I've done this a dozen times and have had the same issue with the same message: uninstall, restart, reinstall.

I've contacted Roland, but they haven't been able to nail down the issue.

Does anyone have any ideas?  I've searched the forum, but haven't found any posts with the same issue with their UA-1G driver.  This is driving me batty.

Thanks!

Dan

My experience with the UA-1G has been the best way to have dealt with your problem would have been to unplug it, enable the advanced driver, rebooted and plugged it back in. I doubt that you can install the drivers unless the advanced driver mode is enabled. I didn't see if you mentioned whether or not you had turned the switch on or not. With the advanced driver mode is off the device uses the standard Windows driver.

Just checked my UM-3G and it looks like its using the Microsoft driver and its working fine in Windows 8. Maybe the problem is with the advanced driver, whatever that is.

Hello All,

I purchased an M-Audio Fast Track and everything is working great.  Fortunately, any issues I had with the UA-1G driver did not collide with this new driver.  For most purposes, the M-Audio device is similar to the UA-1G... very simple/straight forward.  There is the bonus of the XLR input.  And the $100 was a small price to pay for shoring up my sanity before running into the next issue I will likely face with home recording.

Thanks for everyone's time helping to solve the issue!  I gleaned a lot of new information and learned more about drivers during this whole process.   Hopefully, I can repay by answering someone else's questions in the future.
