I'm using Melodyne as a plug in Sonar but can't figure out how to bypass Melodyne so I can A/B the with and without difference.

I copied and pasted this from Celemony's website FAQ....

[Bypass]
If in the course of playback you switch Melodyne plugin to bypass mode and then back, Sonar and Melodyne plugin will no longer be in sync. If that happens, you should stop Sonar briefly before restarting it.

I even searched the downloaded manual from Celemony and it has one mention about bypass....but doesn't say how to do it.

Is this something that is done within Sonar and not the plug itself?  Some plugs have a bypass button but I can't find one in Melodyne.

In my VST Melodyne plug-in, in the upper left corner of the Melodyne panel is an "on" button.  You can click that for on/off (in/out).

Thanks Fireberd...but when I do that it turns it off completely....not bypass it.  I am using it as a "clip" plug....which the FAQ on Celemony's website says not possible.  The plug works fine as a clip plug...but maybe that's why the on/off button doesn't work as a bypass.  I'll do some experimenting with it and see.

Thanks again.

You could just clone the track without the melodyne on it and mute the one you don't want to hear..

if you have it in the FX bin.... simply click on the little icon thing before it's name in the FX bin... it greys out in bypass mode. click it again to turn it back on.

I use it like that all the time to A/B fx.

I turn it off and on in the FX Bin all the time.

By the way, be aware that if you want to use the Pro Channel, you will have to click POST in the track or else Pro Channel won't do anything to your Melodyne transfer.

He is using it per clip.

I think you can just turn the per clip effect off if you click on FX in the top right and then click on the plugin in the correct spot to turn it off. (not in the Melodyne interface, but in the per clip
FX rack that is on the top right of the clip).

I copied this also from the Celemony's FAQ page concerning Sonar.

[Track vs. clip]
Melodyne plugin works as a track insert. Operation as a clip based effect or being used in the "Process" menu are not supported.

So if I'm reading this correctly...it is saying that using Melodyne as a clip based effect does not work.  Although I've used it several times as a clip FX.

Then again...after reading again....it IS saying that it is not supported...not that it doesn't work.  Hmmmm.
