In one of several songs we have recorded for a new demo, My drummer inexplicably slowed down several measures into the song. In lieu of his coming back to re-record his part, is there any wizardry in Sonar X1 to alter the drum tracks?

Thank you.

Quantizing the audio to a new tempo is what your wanting. I just happened to post this just the other day. http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2737161

Depends on how extreme he was in his tempo fluctuation. Is it the whole song or just one or two sections? You could do some creative editing and move sections around. Unless he's way off the grid (assuming you used a click track) I would try using audio snap to tighten things up.

Very interesting video, Eric.

Great video Eric, makes total sense. Your method is almost identical to what Beat Detective does in Pro Tools. It splits at the transients, then you quantize and it applies cross fades. A lot cleaner, and nearly glitch free. Of course the pro Tools people only make multi track Beat Detective available in high end versions, but that's another thread. I've found that Audio Snap and even pro Tools Warping technology which was intended to replace Beat Detective can cause problems when just simply trying to quantize to the grid.
