Keyboard: Fatar SL 880, Soundcard: VS-100, Sonar X2. The 64-bit plugins have worked flawlessly until now where there is no midi signal to Alicia Keyes Piano (Kontakt). Drawn notes in PRV plays allright and the little keyboard icon in the right corner (near the clock) lits every time I hit a key on the Fatar. The same instrument (32 Bit) in Sonar X1 plays perfectly. Something wrong with the setup in X2?

Hi - I have both X2 Producer and Kontakt with the Alicia Keys library.

I just ran a test of your reported issue, using a new project with the Normal template.  I loaded up Kontakt 5 and loaded the Alicia piano, then routed a MIDI track and audio track appropriately to and from Kontakt.

I had no trouble whatsoever in triggering MIDI and hearing proper sound playback through Kontakt and the Alicia Keyes piano.

Please detail the audio track input/output assignments, as well as the MIDI track assignments, and confirm the MIDI channel you have the Alicia Piano loaded into.

My assignments are:

Synth Rack: 1 instance of Kontakt 5.  There is a multi-rack loaded with only the Alicia Keyes Piano instrument, and default channel and output assignments were used.

Audio Track: I had 1 audio track in the project, and the input assignment was the stereo output from Kontakt 5, which is what was specified within Kontakt for the loaded Alicia Keyes Piano instrument.  Audio track output was to the default Master Bus.

MIDI Track: I had a single MIDI track in the project, and the MIDI Input was left to the default Omni (none).  The MIDI Output was assigned to Kontakt 5, which had the Alicia Keyes Piano instrument loaded.

So, I am completely unsure as to why you are having this issue, as it does not appear to happen per the test project I created to test out your reported symptoms.

Oh, I forgot to ask - why does someone keep burning that giant goat you guys build there every year?

And, more importantly, why do you guys build a giant goat every year?

Just curious on the Swedish culture,

LoL. Thanks Bob! The weed goat has probably its roots in pagan tradition for midwinter festivities here in snowy Scandinavia. The giant version in Gävle is burnt down almost every year. I can't remember if anyone ever has been caught for putting the goat to fire. To me it seems like a win-win situation between the city council and the juvenile delinquincies since it attracts people with even the slightest impulses of pyromania and the spectacular fire puts the city on the map every December. I may be wrong though. Back to business: The no-keyboard-midi-issue is not unique for Alicia Keyes and Kontakt. The same happens for any instrument tested today. E g Session Drummer 3: The midi tracks play nicely, I can hit the snare drum, hi/hat and so forth with the mouse left click and it works. As soon I use the Fatar keyboard it won't. Synth Rack: 1 instance of SessionDrummer x64 1. Audio Track: I had 1 audio track in the project, and the input assignment was the stereo output from SessionDrummer x64 1. Audio track output is to the default Master Bus. MIDI Track: I had a single MIDI track in the project, and the MIDI Input is left to the default Omni (none). The MIDI Output was assigned to SessionDrummer x64 1. Still the left lamp in the small icon in the right corner showing MIDI Input/Output Acticity blinks when I hit the Fatar keys...

Went back to my old Yamaha Clavinova Keyboard and it makes no difference. VS 100- X2-issue?

the I/O on the systray icon will light up for ANY I/O, not necessarily just the track you're working on.  My first guess would be to make sure you have the correct MIDI input selected on the track in question.

Hi,

if you go to Preferences>Midi>Devices is your midi port listed and checked here?

Thanks Beagle! Exactly the same settings in X1 where it works perfectly.

make sure your MIDI buffers are set to 500 instead of the default 250.  I had problems with that.

All my fault! The midi from the keyboard was directed as control surface data. Sorry guys and thanks! Can't be careful enough obviously...
