DJ Darkside
Hello,

I am looking for a wireless remote controller for Sonar. I am living in the UK and I want to find something local. So far I have found this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Contour-00496-0-Design-ShuttleXpress-Black/dp/tech-data/B0032Y0OH0/ref=de_a_smtd

And this:

http://www.frontierdesign.com/Products/TranzPort

But the first one seems like its not compatible with Windows 7. The secind one... Tranzport looks like its been discontinued.

Besides a wireless keyboard, are there any hardware units available that offer the same function? I want to have a small device in my vocal booth for when I am recording. Dont want to fuss with keyboards, just something small. Any ideas?

Not used either, but a quick look on Contour Design's web site shows you can download windows 7 drivers for the ShuttleXpress.

Only incompatibility seems to be with hibernation.  Either don't, or unplug first.

Do you have a iPhone or an iPad?

If you have an android phone I have THIS, and with the considerable help of the developer (A Cubase user) I have it working on my phone. $1.99 + some free DAW based applications that need to be installed (progs called PureData and LoopBe1 as well as an "editor" to created your layout).

PM me if you want the particulars.

Bapu you now will receive the "Saving John's Behind" award for this year.

The citation reads as follows

Bapu without regard to his own reputation selflessly offered good advice so John did not have to recommend an Apple Ipad. This action prevented John from having to wash out his mouth with soap and water if he had to recommend that device.
This is service above and beyond the Forum Call of Duty.

Thank you Sir.

Buy a cheap tablet and use a vnc client. If you can get your hands on an iPad, there are a few really good remote apps with faders and live displays.

I retired the Frontier Design Tranzport and now I use V-Control Pro on my iPad. V-Control is a Mackie emulator and provides far more versatility than the Tranzport. Besides, as you said, the Tranzport is discontinued and may not be available any more. There's a reason they didn't make a new model - they must have seen the coming trend with tablets and software.

I have the Frontier Tranzport and love it! Been using it for several years and will continue to do so.

Don't know why they quit manufacturing it, but it still works great!

I see them on eBay regularly. Thinking about buying a back up.
