Thinking of either getting Mashcine MK 2 or an MPC, what would work better
and set up easier in Sonar X2 Producer ?

          Yes, that would be great Mike, but I think my wife would divorce me if I decided to spend
          £2000, instead of £250 for Mashcine or up to £600 on an MPC.

I don't know much about the two pieces of hardware you enquired about, so can't advise you on that.  Someone sensible and knowledgable should be along soon.

No, he can't be, he must have been being sincere, he's currently undertaking to try not being deliberately sarcastic for the sake of it.

As for the original question it will depend how deep you are getting into the pad based controller, the MPD's start at a low enough price where you can test the water and still get your money back on them if you decide to go for something more fully featured later on.
 
If it's just for the input I'd say start with a low end MPD if you want a cool and complete beat making environment then Maschine is a monster straight out of the box.

Yes, I saw that thread.  Perhaps it's two different people using the same login..

FWIW, my Korg PadKontrol installed plug and play.


I've observed that many people feel that the Akai MPC controllers aren't fully compatible with SONAR.

I had wanted to replace the PadKontrol with the AKAI MPK49 but I never found anyone that got it working 100% so I gave up wondering about it.






Are you gonna use this with the Matrix?

One thing I'll mention about the MPC pads is that (by default) they're not very sensitive to light dynamics.
There's a relatively easy mod you can do to address this.

Machine mkII's pads are more sensitive.
The PadKontrol Mike mentioned has pads that are very sensitive to light dynamics.

Do you want/need the extra features of Machine... or are you strictly wanting a pad controller with knobs/faders?
