  • Piano roll does not open on same measure as track view

When i double click on a MIDI clip or Alt-3 (with Time ruler on say bar 43 in track view) and open Piano roll, the starting measure is at bar 2-3.  So I have to scroll to find my place in the midi track every time i open a clip in Piano roll.

Slightly annoying.  Is there something i'm not clicking correctly or is this a bug?

Yes, I get that.  I could have sworn that in previous versions the PRV opened at the point in the song where I was working.

When you double-click a clip, make sure you do it in the bottom half (or underneath the header) of the clip (where the mouse cursor looks like an I ). That way your double-click will not only open the PRV, but it will also move the Now time so that the PRV opens in the correct location.

Hey John,

Always glad to help.  And thanks for asking about the book. Should be out around end of Feb. It's already available for pre-order...

I for one HATE the changes to the PRV mode behavior.  Not only did I notice this but also if you edit something in PRV, the now time auto scroll stops working and you have to do a right click in the timeline to get the scroll working again (still opening the PRV with a CNTL 5 command).

Sorry to report that this does not work.

It only works for the first time a clip is opened in the PRV.  If the same clip in TV is double-clicked it opens PRV to measure 2 consistent behavior every time for me.

This is one of the bugs that really bugs me about Sonar X2 and hope it is fixed in the first update.

Hmmm... strange. It's working here for me. As long as I click in the correct place on the clip, the PRV opens to the same spot that I clicked. Not sure what's going on with your setup...

I'm not saying that you're not experiencing a bug... you could be. But I'm not seeing it here.
