No hidden or Archived Tracks in my projects.  I have seen the issue in projects with very small track counts (approx 5-6).  I'm not sure if I've seen it on tracks with larger track counts, but will try to duplicate it on those and let you know.

Hi Folks,

Sorry for the 20 questions. I think I'm close to narrowing the issue down. Those of you experiencing stuck meters, do you have folders and/or hidden tracks in the project? Are any of these tracks archived? Are these projects larger (i.e. 20+ tracks)?

Hi Dan...

Tho I see it didn't affect others, I think you may be on the track of something...

After I made all hidden tracks visible and unarchived the archived track(s), I managed to get the meters to work... It took a couple of stop starts until they were all showing activity tho...

Yes, I also have more than 20 tracks including archived/frozen...

2 monitors here, 1 track folder with 10-12 tracks in the folder, and yes 20+ tracks
Nothing hidden, archived or frozen however

Hi Folks,

I'd like to thank everyone for chiming in on this issue. With your help we were able to narrow down the problem. Essentially the issue occurs when a track strip is drawn between the TV divider after a certain number of strips is reached while in a folder. We are currently working on a solution that should appear in the next update.

In the meantime, this issue does not effect Console or Track Inspector metering. Managing this issue can also be done by hiding folders and tracks that are archived to reduce your track count. This can be rather distracting so I also suggest hiding meters on track strips (Track view Options menu - Meter Options - uncheck Track Record and Track Playback meters) until the problem is solved.

Thank you again for your help and patience.

Great Work Dan! My Kudos to the Bakers for tracking it down so quickly... Here's hoping they find the solution as easily! ;-)

I can live with it for a time on that machine for as you say it's easy enuf to use the Inspector/CV for metering for now...

For me it's a releif knowing that it's not something wrong with my machine! ;-)

Thanks!

It's great your getting close to a fix for this. I just want to throw a couple of odd things going on that may or may not be related to this but maybe a good idea to mention. Sometimes I get a black line through a track and it remains until I close the project and is gone when I re-open it and sometimes re-appears again. not a big deal but a little annoying. Maybe it has to do with the automation lane which I found an issue with.
For whatever reason and this is a ramdom thing where it happens on some tracks and not others. I notice the sqwigglely automation line on some tracks that I have not automated. In fact this happens even without having automation on any track. When I look in the automation lane there is a green line with a node at the end and it indicates the current level my track is set to so it snaps back to that level when I try to change it. I have to click on the automation lane and delete the green line automation that's there. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen.

I had a slightly different issue yesterday while trying to record some acoustic guitars using X2 for a project for the first time and wonder if it's related. I had only just started a project so very little open in way of tracks/folders/archiving etc

I created a brand new project in X2 Producer, (haven't downloaded or installed bug fix yet) added an Audio track, selected input and armed the track. But then while trying to get a level for miked up acoustic guitar the meter was blank in the 'Inspector' and Track Meter views.

Strangely I found that the level meters for the track input displayed when I pressed Play, so I did this as a work around to check level on guitar before recording.

I thought this could be due to something I'm doing wrong with the new 'Take Lanes' feature, but I didn't touch anything so surely it shouldn't be doing this 'out of the box'?

I do a lot of live instrument recording with Microphones, and this is a vital part of how I use Sonar, I'm quite surprised something so fundamentally wrong was allowed to make it out unnoticed and makes me very apprehensive as to what other problems are lurking ahead, and I haven't even got to the Pro Channel stuff yet...

This sounds similar to the issue I have once in a while - although I'm still on X1.    As a workaround, I typically click on echo enable once, which seems to restore the meters, I then turn off echo enable
