Pentagon has been a free download for some time. It pretty much defines the term abandonware. I would guess that fixing pentagon is about as low on the list of projects at Cakewalk as anything can get. The fact that it still works at all in some contemporary applications is the surprise.

If I go to the download page for it, it is not free, but $49.99 USD.  Are you maybe confusing it with Triangle II (which I know is really free, because I downloaded it)?

I eventually gave up on using pentagon as it was capable at one point of coming up with the scariest random outbursts of hardcore digital noise I have ever heard. I wish I had recorded some of them actually, but I was genuinely scared for my equipment/hearing. It's a shame, as it's one of the instruments I used to learn synthesis around the time of sonar 4, and it would be fun to go back to it.

You are right. I had it confused with its bretheren.

I use the dx to vst wrapper, jbridged the resulting vst to x64. Works well.

Will you please splain this a bit.

Pentagon is an RGC product that was bought by Cakewalk from Rene Ceballos, Since Rene is no longer with Cakewalk(could still be loosely associated) I doubt a fix will ever be in the works for this awesome Synth.

Hey Rene if your out there, thank's for all your great Synths and let us know how your doing.

Here's hoping he will answer.

Could you clarify what you meant by the "valleys simulators" it? It sounds like it might help but you completely lost me dude!
Cheers
Simon
The Simulators are effects built into Pentagon. Right under the Pentagon I logo you will see the simulator section. There are thee Valleys simulators that cause the burst of noise or silence depending on your system.

Some work arounds for this most common problem.

Create a track template with a limiter on the output of Pentagon to prevent the burst of noise being too loud.
As you discover presets with the Valley simulator, select another simulator setting or turn it off all together and re-save the preset.

Download http://xlutop.com/buzz/zip/dxshell_v1.0.4b.zip
Cmd shell2vst dxshell.dll
This will create a folder with a single vst dll for each of your DXi plugs
Assuming pentagon DX is installed, look for "rgc audioPentagon I.dll", this is the pentagon vst2 plugin (wrapping the dx)
I have it automapped and then jbridged to x64, working in all my x64 hosts

Why not just use the 64 bit DXi ??  Or is this a work around for the Valleys simulator issue.
