Thanks for checking out the video. Actually, the Expander/ Gate does its job in the second example. It is not possible for an Expander/ Gate to remove bleed that is on top of the vocal. What it can do is remove the bleed between the phrases, in the 'silent space', and that's just what we did in the video.

My bad, I listened again and indeed the bleed is happening whilst the vocals is going on (could have sworn otherwise when I went to bed last nite!).
