Hi Guys,

Another noob question, is it possible to draw an automation envelope for a midi cc control for one of my hardware synths? I would like to be able to simply draw a curve that controls the cutoff on my roland gaia synth.  How would I go about doing this or am I stuck editing this midi in the controller pane?  I am trying to do this on a midi track that has the in/out set to the gaia. I can't seem to figure it out...Sonar is quite different then flstudio heh :)

Also while Im at it, is there a way to re-assign shift + D to maximizing the dock that doesn't require me to reset up all of my key bindings? I haven't been able to locate the function in key bindings.

Thanks,

Norm

What program are you using? In Sonar 8.5 you can convert existing cc data in a track to an envelope using the Convert to Shapes feature. Once the envelope is created you can add/delete/move nodes like in any other envelope. In 8.5 this is done by selecting the clip/track and clicking Edit in the menu and putting your mouse cursor over the three little arrows at the bottom right corner of the menu to access the Convert MIDI to Shapes command.

Regarding the key bindings issue... again, what program are you using?

I think it must be X1, seeing as he's talking about the Multidock

But I've been wrong before........

Yeah Im using X1,

I saw the convert to shapes feature but it doesn't actually do anything to the automation...so im not sure if it's not possible or if sonar is having an issue...

As for the keybindings, I see that it's a frequently requested feature, but search would be so useful!

Thanks.

Have you tried using it? Maybe it is creating the cc envelope but you can't see it. You should bring this up on the X1 forum. There are people there who are familiar with the program and can look into this for you.

Yeah I've tried using it and nothing happens.  Ill bring it up on the x1 forums and see if anyone knows.  You would think that is how it works but not so sure.

From what I have read envelopes aren't visible the same way they are in 8.5. You have to enable their view or you don't see them.

It worked for me. It creates and envelope from the CC data in the clip (even if it destroys those data, so the cinverted envelope is just a line). Now I am figuring out how to switch to it again after I switch to note filtr. The envelope doesn't stay in options of edit filtr for me to choose it again. again.

Edit: It worked the first time I tried, but now when I wanted to convert another controllers in the same track, the controllers disappeared, but the envelope doesn't even get a focus (because it is visible there, I just cannot select it from the edit filter).

You probably need to start a new thread seeing as this one is 16 months old.

Also put your entire system spec in your signature. This helps.
