You won't need this information until you have a V-Studio, but some tips:

1.  You can define some of the buttons on the console which is very handy.  I have buttons to open Staff, Lyrics, and Event List views.  (PRV button was already there.)
2.  The scroll wheel is incredibly better than a mouse or cursor key.
3.  Watch out on the Fantom install and do not install ARX editor unless you have a Fantom Expansion card.  Since it is possible to have two interfaces and two Fantoms, the default Fantom installation may try to install two devices.  Be sure you say NO to the second one if you only have one interface.
4.  Related to Fantom installation, you will need to check Preferences because Sonar likes to throw in Fantom and ARX as input devices which will screw you up.  Don't get hung up on this: but if you have issues, just be sure and look at Preferences and uncheck devices that don't make sense.  Also, if some tracks in a project stop working correctly, make sure the in or out has not defaulted to Fantom or ARX.  This is a Sonar bug that doesn't show up for users who only use the PC.

The problems above are only serious if you don't know wwhat to look for and waste hours trying to figure it out.

Well, I'm going to put money aside for it and see where they are at with this product in April.  I've watched the ARX-01 video for about an hour....yes, its only 8 minutes long, but I couldn't pull myself away from the sexyness of it.  They sound much different that the sample libraries I have.  Plus, I'm under the belief you can never have enough drums.......toss in everything else that the VS700 can do and its a winner, but the support does concern me greatly, so I will just keep my eyes open and see how things develop.

It only has a pair of stereo outs into Sonar?  So I would have to mix the drums with the built in effects or solo each drum sound & record, to their own tracks in sonar if I want to use my 3rd party stuff? A little bit of a bummer, but at least there's a long winded workaround if needed, haha.....Thanks everyone for the input, I'm sold.

Yes only one stereo pair but the trick I found is to sample the sounds you want to use and use them with session drummer.

Let me explain:  The ARX-01 are not only static samples, they are models which can be modified in the editor to achieve different variation of the same sample. That you probably already know.

Let's say I want a 22" brass snare drum. Then get that one in the ARX, tweek the parameters until it fits your need (shell depth, tuning, mic placement, compressor, eq, exciter, etc) and then record (render) the result.

Once you have that wave form, export it and then load it in session drummer. Do it for every sound you want and session drummer will play all of them on any separate inputs and process them further in Sonar if you wish.

To achive the same result with a library mean having lots of static gigabytes of samples and trying them one by one. I prefer to customize the ARX, which are second to none sound wise.
