Sonar versions released after June 1st, 2016 will scatter files across ALL drives in your DAW EXCEPT for drive 'C'.  Drive 'C' will no longer get any.
 

And it will continue to get horny and lonely .... until a new DAW comes around!
 
I would (actually) not be surprised if one of these ended up saying things like ... we will store it here in our servers on the cloud, and your version is basically ours ... so it works a bit more like a notebook for a DAW, which in some ways might be interesting as it might bypass your own system's limitations.
 
But I am not sure that I would want to put all my work somewhere else, and one day, after I die, they keep it and steal it from the family, because it was in the small print, and they "benefit" from your work, not your family.

OK, here's my serious answer.
 
Craig Anderton mentioned a while back that it would serve CW to get in on the education market.
 
I think they landed a deal with educators to allow audio students learn on SONAR and since that potentially opens up a new revenue stream for them (students=customers) they can offer lifetime membership to selected customers as an initial cash flow to help fund that educational effort.
 
Someone simply calculated the possible new revenue stream and what it would take financially to get them over that hump.
 
This makes sooooooooo much more sense than a Mac version of the product, to me.
