X2 works fine with Windows 8. Your error sounds to me like either your soundcard drivers are bad or you need to run a full antivirus scan and a memory test. I was having some crashes and I ran the FULL antivirus scan and it found a trojan horse virus.

Sonar X2 producer does work in Windows 8 nicely, actually.

X2 crashes everytime I exit the program.

It appears to be the audio/midi interface drivers.

Be nice if the next X patch helps.

But I have been researching a new interface. Main problem is needing ADAT I/O.

Using w7 for now.

I've found that most of my problems in Windows 8 are solved by reinstalling things. I didn't install Win 8 "clean" either - but it's working fine (apart from a few annoying things that have been fixed with re-installs)

Win 8 x64 works JOLLY good for me.

Do your driver/software/firmware homework PRIOR to complaining.  Clean install of Win 8 seems inherently less problematic, maybe that's just cause that's the way I approach things like that.

New install: triple boot

All other functions work fine: MS office works. And CD creation,... And IE, adobe reader,...

Drivers for the EMU are not to be updated.  And were not finalized for w7. Creative is a large company that should not have purchased a samll company. They have effectively abandoned it. No sense of responsibility for owners/users.

Using the motherboard audio device seems to work fine with x2. At least no full computer crashes on exiting.

x2 appears to work once opened.  It has crashed after opening and closing a bunch of projects.

So, time for a new interface: audio, midi, adat
