what do you mean by flushing the drive?

Are these projects that were NOT started in X2?

I have at least one project from X1 that does exactly the same thing.

Try loading the project in "safe mode"; hold down the shift key when opening the file.

IF these are X1 projects (or earlier) you have a "buggy" plugin.

It's what you do with it when it's broken...

On Windows systems, this isn't something to be concerned about at all.

It could be a bad soundcard driver or you need to run a check on your disk drive. You didn't mention what sound card you're using.

I am using a focusrite saffire usb interface for audio

have you gone to focusrite and downloaded the drivers for your audio interface ?

if not you need to rid your computer of the substiute windows put in its place and download the right driver.
it could be a buffer issue.if your buffers are to high/low it can make playback unstable.

plug in your focusrite,go to device manager, delete the driver, unplug the unit.re-boot (do not plug it back in)
get the updated driver from focusrite/install it.plug in your unit.
wait for it to accept the driver and open up sonar, you should be running that A.I. with asio only, not anything else.
i have the same unit the saffire 6 usb ?
works great.

I have a scarlett and it always freezes once you stop a track. Mine rarely crashes however. It just takes time to re establish itself. Once playback is stopped.

In short, I don't rate the focusrite drivers. These cards however, do sound extremely good so worth the money.

I have a high end pc and no crashes, but on a lesser system the crashes do occur.

I think it is probably down to he focusrite drivers or the way they react with x2. It is well worth trying switching off the 64 bit engine and setting everything to 16 bit. But in my experience , the focusrite cards do go into confused mode once playback is stopped. It did not happen with an maudio 2496 cheap and cheerful card, but could also be a sonarism.
