New to X1 and I've got a question about the Pro Channel presets.  From what I can gather, presets are opened or saved for the entire channels' settings and I cannot save presets for the individual components, (EQ, Compressor etc.).  To me this appears to be counter productive.

If I have an EQ setting that I want on a track and I bring it in via a preset, I'd have to go back and reset the other plugins.  It looks like I'm being forced to manually set all the various components of the PC for every track, every time, until I've amassed enough PC presets to cover the different tracks and options I might use in a project.  (We're not talking about tweaking here but a starting point).

Here's another scenario:  I have my PC set just how I want it but then decide to try a different compressor preset.  I can't just bring in a compressor preset.  I have to bring in a PC preset and there goes my previous settings.

I understand that we're moving toward hardware and console type emulations but if in doing so, we loose the convenience of the DAW, (presets), That seems to be going backwards.

This is looking very tedious to me.  What am I missing?  Any comments welcome.  Thanks.

This problem has been discussed and for now its just the way it is. I don't use presets not because I look down on them its just I tend to adjust things to suite me. I think of presets as starting points only anyway.

There is a way to use the same EQ on other tracks.

To copy EQ settings
SONAR lets you easily copy EQ settings from one track/bus (source) to another track/bus (target)
when using the integrated per-channel EQ in the Console View or Track Inspector.
To do so, hold down the CTRL, click the source EQ plot and drag to the target EQ plot, then release
the mouse button and CTRL key.
The EQ settings are copied from the source track/bus to the target track/bus. The target EQ will
automatically be enabled if it was not already enabled.
This command is undoable, so you can quickly and easily revert to a track/bus’ previous EQ
settings.

No, you can workaround this limitation quite easily: if the preset containing the EQ you want is already being used in any other track, just ctrl + click the EQ plot in Console View and drag it across to the destination track. The EQ wil be copied but nothing else.

If the EQ isn't currently in the project, insert a new track, import the Pro channel preset and ctrl click & drag as above

Hey John.  Thanks for responding.

That's good to know and I'll try it out but how would that work in the inspector as only one track is visible at a time?

BTW, what search terms would I use to find those discussions?  Thanks.

Thanks Colin.  I'm guessing that's in the manual somewhere too and I missed it.    I'm off to try it out.  This should make my life a bit easier as I get into X1.
