hey, sharke... that;s a weird problem the removing but still getting applied. you're using x2, so have you tried just expanding the automation lanes and disabling read automation for the erroneous lane?

Yes I could disable read automation as a workaround, but I'd much rather just delete the automation lane. I right click in the track window and select "remove automation lane." That should get rid of the lane entirely shouldn't it? Well frequently, for me, it doesn't. Sometimes I will manually delete the automation data as well, and even after that the data is still there "in spirit."

wow that is just totally bizarre. never had the automation stick around. you're right-clicking the envelope and selecting delete automation, right?

Yep that's what I'm doing.

Pretty much all the problems reported on this thread have been fixed in X2. X2 had a massive automation makeover and we fixed almost all the reported problems in our system. Copy and paste of automation should now be working fine for tracks, buses as well as synth tracks.

Sharke I think you might be misunderstanding what deleting a lane does. An automation lane is just a visual representation of the underlying automation. Removing it does *not* remove the automation. It just hides the envelope and the envelope is now displayed on the parent track instead. If you really want to delete it you must right click the envelope and choose delete. Automation lanes are completely optional so you can have envelopes in the project without using lanes.

yeah noel, i applaud the automation makeover in x2 and i have had absolutely no problems i can report with it, but it sounds like sharke is right-clicking the envelope and choosing delete automation from the context menu.  i have never encountered this, so i can't confirm automation persisting after delete.

@sharke - if you delete automation then close and reopen the project does the problem persist?

No he said this:
"Yes I could disable read automation as a workaround, but I'd much rather just delete the automation lane. I right click in the track window and select "remove automation lane." That should get rid of the lane entirely shouldn't it? "

As I explained, removing the lane does not delete the automation itself. Its like hiding a track - when you hide a track you wouldn't expect the track data to be deleted!

Ah, I see....so "remove automation lane" just hides it from view in the same way as the + and - buttons.

I think calling it "remove" is what confused me. Maybe "hide" would be more appropriate?

so i asked, "you're right-clicking the envelope and selecting delete automation right" to which the reply was "yep, that's what i was doing".  sorry for the misinterpretation. ;P
