Hi folks

Just got Sonar Producer X2 after several years using Home Studio. It's obviously very capable software with a lot to learn! With this in mind can you guys recommend any decent tutorials? I really want something pretty comprehensive - starting off with the basics and progressing systematically onto the more advanced stuff!

Yeah I know there's stuff all over the web but I'd like something all in one place!

For X2-specific materials, I've enjoyed the Groove3 videos and have heard good things about SWA's as well.  Both available here:

Any thoughts on which is the better of the two?

I only really want to buy one and I have heard good things about Groove3 and SWA. 

But could I be so bold as to pin you down to make a choice between the two? I'm quite a newbie to all this available functionality so I really want something that's got the beginner in mind!

If you are familiar with modern sequencing and mixing setups.... There is not a great deal more to get your head round which the  cakewalk video transitioning from x1 to x2 covers. You dont really have to be familiar with x1 as it takes you fully through how to do the workflow stuff in x2 like clips, markers, navigation etc.  deffo worth a watch.

I think learning clip functionality,  editing, the view modules (browser,console, track , channel) ,  automation, snap,  you will be ready to go.
With any daw, time,  practice and familiarity will reap rewards no video can cover.  The free cake stuff was more than enough to get me going.

It's probably the most detailed Sonar video ever. Over nine hours of in depth look at all of the functions, tools, and options within Sonar, insanely detailed was one description I've seen - which was a compliment I think/hope.

It starts from the basics of setting up audio and MIDI interfaces, the options to tweak for performance and stability and then carries on through a full explanation from the basics through to covering the more powerful tools that Sonar has.

If you check out the detailed content PDF (even that's 11pages - I don't do skimp ) you'll see exactly what is covered and there's a video from the tutorial HERE which gives you an idea of the style and format.

As an added bonus if there's anything you're unsure about and have specific questions on any of it I'm always here getting on people's nerves on the forums to answer them.
