Hello - could you give me some advice Octapad users? How easy is it to set up a SDP-30? Do you need instrument definition files? I notice no ACT support? I'm thinking about buying one second hand, it may not provide the software. Downloads from Roland's site seems to be just the drivers and firmware. I'm going with Roland (maybe) mainly because Cakewalk is Roland so I would hope support is excellent?!

I don't know if I can be any help, but I use a venerable SPD-20 to drive XLN Addictive drums, so I don't need an .ins file. 

I don't use the internal sound set. I treat it just as a simple MIDI controller.

.ins files aren't hard to create yourself - just tedious.
