Maybe we can understand you better if you give example of what songs you want to transfer from Yamaha to sonar. Is it the built-in (demo)songs? is it songs you have recorded on the Yamaha ? Is it midi files (.mid) that you download from internet?

Edit: give example of the song name/title as well?

Okay, I'll take your word for it even though I've had X1 and X2 running fine on my system for quite some time now.

The Play List won't load Sysex files. For that, you would need to create a project in SONAR and use the Sysx view. In the Sysx view, you have a list of banks. You can load each of these banks with a sysex dump. You can then select a bank and send it. Maybe that is what you're looking for?

You can access the Sysx view by choosing Views > Sysx from SONAR's main menu.

Maybe it would help if you were to provide the information already requested i.e. FULL system specs.

Got your PM, but I'd rather respond here... if the Sysx view is crashing for you, then it's time to contact Cakewalk tech support. Crashes are a major problem and I don't know how to solve those. Sorry.

Here's a link to a sysex editor for Windows, but I've never used it and have no idea if it works...

Thanks, Alex! Yep, looks like end of Feb release for print. Still not sure about the ebook... the publisher says yes, but they've said that plenty of times before. So... don't know. Unfortunately, it's totally in their control... they own the book.

I know that the Nook version of X1 Power is available from B&N... is that not available to order outside the US?

Just found this info about Nook ebooks (which be used on many different devices with the free Nook reader apps - even Windows and Mac) outside US...

If they are MIDI files, can't you make a playlist of MIDI files in Windows Media Player and set it up to default to the MIDI out port instead of to the internal sounds?

A long time ago, I had a little battery powered Yamaha disk player the would stream MIDI data.  I actually still have it but it uses an old format of floppy disks.  I can find blank ones but don't have a computer that will write to them anymore.   I was going to use it on the Kawai digital piano in my living room for classical tracks, but trying to transfer the data to these old disks was not worth it.   I could buy a newer sequence but that costs more than a laptop, so that is pointless.

He's not trying to play audio or midi, but rather using Sonar as a "Data Filer" to transmit MIDI System Exclusive data to the external midi gear. And I'm pretty sure Sonar has this feature. Is it working, I don't know.

MidiOx is a free program that is a very good data filer. Not sure if it is still supported after XP. But you should check it out if you can't get Sonar to work for you.
