Depending on what you're trying to do, that may not get it, either, because you can only solo one lane at a time.

I take it back. You're talking about the new Lanes in X2 then? Wouldn't soloing the the first clip ( and other parts) and using the create new lanes on overlap do the same thing, as in solo everything you want to hear? Never heard of a new take-Layer-Lane muting the original.

So long as you only need/want to hear one pre-existing take, yes... except that soloing Take 1 does not make it audible in the scenario described.   I just checked.

EDIT: I think it's time for everyone present to go file a Problem Report on his favorite facet(s) of this issue, and let the Bakers sort it out, either in code or in documentation.

That is messed up.

I have just the opposite problem sometimes!  Odd situation.

What are BretB's settings?

I have not found a work-around here...other than copying the clips into a completely new track...seems a bit of work for something that could possibly be one click away from being done...

The work around is arm the track, but do not specifically arm the take lane in the track. It is not a big deal, but a minor annoyance in an otherwise intuitive platform, you wouldn't expect it to work quite that way ya know?

Prefs: sound on sound selected, mute previous takes, save in same track, create take lanes on overlap.  The process is: setup loop and punch record times, loop is just outside the loop times.  When it loops around, I am hearing all previous takes.  It seems that going to preferences and re-selecting the record options will sometimes solve this.  Not changing settings but rather un-select and select then save changes.
