Is there a way to make Sonar scan only specific locations instead of the entire computer? I have three hard disks, and it takes forever to scan for project files. All my Sonar projects are stored on the same drive in a folder named Sonar (clever, no?). It would save a ton of time if I could tell Sonar to ONLY scan that folder.

No, there's no option for that.

Instead, you should be using the Per-Project Audio Folders option. That way each project gets saved into its own folder along with a subfolder containing all the audio for that project.

To clean a project up after editing, you can use Save As to save it to a new folder and either keep the original folder just in case or get rid of it.

I do have separate project folders with their own audio folders. The "save as" idea is great, but more of a workaround than a solution. I guess I'll post it as a feature suggestion.

I've been waiting for this option for a long time also. For those of us that are 'neat' and don't spread files willy nilly on the computer, it's frustrating to wait for Sonar to search unrelated drives and folders. At least it should be optional and not mandatory.

I'm not sure what version of CWAF you are using (mine is v4.0) but it has options to select which drives to search.  It also lets you exclude certain folders.  A bit of configuring can save lots of search time.

IIRC there was an update to the CWAF 2 or 3 years ago. Check your version. Mine's the same as Larry's: 4.0.5.80. It has an exclusion list. For example, all my projects are on drive G:, so I specified just drive G: and then entered all the folders I didn't want searched into the exclusion list. 

I just looked around X1 a bit and noticed the menu Utilities>Clean Audio Folder...
Seems similar to CWAF but does not have the options I and bitflipper mentioned.

Maybe the OP was referring to the Clean Audio Folder utility built into X1 and SHS7 ?  I've always used CWAF and never even noticed the Clean Audio Folder utility.

This drives me to distraction, too. I also use PER PROJECT folders and have sit there patiently while Sonar scanes EVERY folder on my HD looking for redundant WAV files. If there's a way to configure Clean Audio Folder so that it searches ONLY the audio folder associated with the current project, I'm not aware of it.
