  • SONAR X1 - Lasso selects multiple MIDI notes that I didn't select

This has really been bugging me. Whenever I try to lasso a bunch of MIDI notes, SONAR selects them, but also chooses a few random ones that aren't in my selection as well. This is just one clip layer behind but it seems to randomly select these other ones?!?! WHY?!?!?!

So if I select this section:

I get the following notes selected:

This basically makes Lasso a useless tool and I might as well individually select each note one by one... I'm using X1d. Not moving my album projects over to X2 just yet as I want to see a patch or two out before I do that. I assume this is resolved in X2 but haven't tried it out yet as I haven't really done any MIDI in X2 yet, just been working audio.

There is a Registry setting you can make to override that annoying lasso behavior. See page 670 of the X1 manual.

Well there you go! Thanks for that one. Beats my though why this change is in the registry and not in the Preferences...

Is it possible the lasso is touching the velocities of those "randomly" selected notes? If that's the case, there's a different way to display velocities.

Yeah, I think that's what must be going on. I just didn't expect it to be selecting things like that! Very weird 'feature' that can't be turned off in the program... Maybe show/hide velocities will be an easier fix. I can see some reason to use this feature still. I have wanted to just select the lower velocities to just turn those ones up sometimes. I probably haven't noticed it before because all my parts used to be programmed by mouse, but I'm playing it into a keyboard now so the velocities are all different, hence the 'weirdness'. It was just too crazily obvious to be a bug!

Beats me how anyone can deal with those velocity lines on top of the notes in the PRV anyway. My mind just can't process it all.

They kinda just blend into the background for me and I don't really notice them...!

BTW, how is everything looking after Sandy around your area? You were right across from that big power station explosion, weren't you?

Everything back to normal here! We had no power for 5 days but that was about it....
