OK... I'm glad it's not just me with the white-outs.  But honestly, I feel like my (rather new) 4GB RAM machine is now the very minimum that will run Sonar X2.  If I preview 10 or 20 loops, then try to Run the palyback of a sequence, I have a high risk of a white-out or at least a drop out.
Looks like I will have to upgrade to Win64 and 16GB RAM (or more) soon.
But so far, liking X2.

See my thread on crashing. You should run a CHKDSK on your disk drive and memtest on your memory.

The PDF manual is searchable. What tool are you using to read it?

I suspect errors in these two items would cause BSOD crashes (ie fatal) whereas the white screen sonarpdr.exe not responding is more s/w related?...

the pdf opens and there is a search button that I click, which brings up a search box. Never once has anything I have typed into the box been found. "MIDI", "Export", "Import", etc. Never been found! Perhaps there is something wrong with the version I have, but i doubt it.

I'm using Adobe Reader X and every one of those words you quote finds a bundle of stuff. So it is either your version of what ever software you use to view PDF files or else it is "user error."

Not necessarily. If there is an error on the disk drive affecting Sonar, it would only cause Sonar to fail. I might agree with you on the memory, but its definitely worth it to check it.

I had one crash trying to open Sonar.  So far that is all.

I did a complete clean reinstall of Windows 7 64 bit, installed my recording hardware drivers (e.g. Octa-Capture).  Installed Sonar X2 only (didn't reinstall X1).  The first time I started X2 it came up OK.  The second time I started it, it bombed out with a garbled error message.  Since that one time, I've started and used Sonar X2 several times and no more problems.  I needed to do do a remix of an X1 project and that went off without problems.

I've had one crash working on a project that was created in 8.53 - other than that. It has been rock solid here. Not sure if that had anything to do with my crash. I opened X2 several times yesterday and used the computer for a lot of internet as well. Could have been a lot of things I guess. However, I used to never be able to do all of that without reboots using 8.53 and X1. So in my opinion, this version is much more robust.

I didn't see your operating system - but I'm on the non-supported Vista64. Hope you get this sorted out!!

I've had 3 white screen crashes with X2 in the last hour!  X1 didn't do this to me.
