hello forum members,
i ordered a venom synth today and i was wondering
if i can use the software editor in x2 producer(32x&64x)
if so, would there be any conflicts w/other plug-ins?
also, can you use the mic input for "vocoder" type fx?
there seems to be conflicting info on this.
as always,thanks very much   m.r.

depends on the software.. m-audio don't exactly go out of their way to make stuff good with stuff outside avid / m-audio prodcuts

you can use virtual midi ports IF it's an exe.. maybe they did a VST version of their editor.. tricky to say

there won't be conflicts...

as for the mic etc.. dunno, if the synth can do it..just input it into your soundcard.. a decent one, not an onboard one.

Well you bought it - you are gonna find out soon enough :).
Don't forget to download the latest drivers/software and upgrade the firmware of the keyboard.

Cheers..

The software is actually a cut down version of Midi Quest. The "free" version of the editor does not support VST. The VST version is a paid upgrade, and has not yet been release AFAIK.

Yea dont hold your breath on the vst editor check the VYZor support site they promised it would be finished "next week" that was over 18 months ago
As for the Cysex editor it does work while sonar is running as the venom USB midi port is multiclient. Just be aware this synth hsa soo much potential but the software is CRAP ive had mine for 8 weeks and still cant overwrite the First prreset or get my own to save once the machine is turned off so its a bit BAD I wish I had just bought a controller keyboard and stuck with my softsyths

 Thanks very much
yeah,i wasn't expecting miracles.
outputting to a soundcard sounds like the
best option for the time being.
my experience w/included editors has been 50/50.
thanks for the info
best regards   m.r.

I have had my Venom since its release and was a beta tester for the editor. The first thing you HAVE to do is upgrade your firmware to the latest version if you have not done so already and then download the latest editor software. The newest stuff corrects some seriously bad midi clocking errors and the editor is a huge improvement over the original. That's the good news...

Now the bad news. Vyzor, the company that made the editor and was supposed to ship a VST version oh so long ago has been completely unresponsive to questions about this editor for almost a year now. The VST was supposed to ship over a year ago and has never even been in beta test. Avid dumped M-Audio and they, in turn, have totally ceased all discernible development or pro-active support for the Venom software and firmware. It really is amazing how badly they have treated the customer base. My guess is Vyzor just stopped development because they could not get money and/or support from M-Audio.

Bottom line...don't hold your breath for a VST. It isn't going to happen.
