  • BREVERB sometimes doesn't work

I'm having intermittent problems with Breverb in X2.  Every so often when I insert Breverb into the FX slot on a MIDI track it won't work.  The track still plays as before, but there's no reverb.  I noticed that sometimes when this happens that the "Bypass Bin" or "Bypass Bins of This Type" boxes are checked in the right-click menu.  Unchecking the boxes activates Breverb in those cases.

But sometimes I find that Breverb won't work and that the bypass check box is empty.  I'm able to add any other effect to the slot.  I can even add another instance of Breverb and get it to work.  But I can't get the initial instance to work.

Has anybody else experienced this?  Any solutions?

This has come up quite a few times. Not sure if there is a solution yet but google Breverb + Sonar + Bug and it should bring up a bunch of threads here.

I haven't used it very much and haven't had any issues so far so I can't help you more than that. Not sure if installing the Quick Fix will help but if you haven't done that already maybe try it. Cheers.

Thanks Beepster.  I tried Google just now and didn't come up with much.  I'll do a more in-depth search later.

The Quick Fix doesn't list this as an issue that it addresses, so I've been avoiding it.  I guess if the problem becomes enough of an issue I could give the Quick Fix a try.

Not had the Breverb problem, but have read others have, but..

As for the quick fix - I would install it.  I'd had a few problems with X2 that weren't listed in the Quickfix notes, but on the advice of a member of Cakewalk staff I installed it anyway, and all my problems went away.

X2 now stable as a rock.  Worth a try.  You can always roll back easily enough.

I've tried Breverb and dumped it. No issues with bugs, unless there's a bug that can make it sound horrible. Spent a couple hours and couldn't get anything I liked out of it. I'm really glad I didn't upgrade for the reverb plug or console emulation.

jb101:  I'll go ahead and install the quick fix tomorrow.  I'm having lots of little graphics problems in addition to the breverb problem.  I'll be pleased as punch if it fixes everything.

I have the quickfix installed, it did not fix the Breverb issue.  I actually like the sound of the reverb, but with the occassional 'dead in the water' problem, it is unusable.

I've also experienced that on occasion Breverb doesn't activate on a track as expected. I really like the Breverb reverb so I've aimed to apply it more carefully. I'm using it on a Verb Bus now and send my tracks to it where I want it used. Haven't had any issues when I use it that way and it sounds terrific.  I've become a real fan of Breverb.
