  • It's Not What You Own (a bit of Bluesabilly)

I pulled the working file for this song and dusted it off.  It is a number that I did a little while back.  I'm calling it Bluesabilly because the rhythm riff is a modified Jimmy Reed (one of my favourite Bluesmen) riff and the lead break is a modified Rockabilly riff.  The melody is probably somewhere in between.

It is a short number --- so, you won't be wasting much time by listening.  I hope that you enjoy it and as always suggestions, comments, etc. are appreciated.

Thanks.

True words Freddy. Interesting juxtaposition of the rhythm and vocal timing.

Thanks Wayne.  I appreciate the comments.  This one of those songs where I just had a bunch of fun putting together.

Hey Robby!  Thanks very much for your response    and speaking of chicken to the bone --- or as this cat spells it Chikan ----- the link below will take you to a Blues playing cat, called Super Chikan, that plays his own home made instruments.

Great playing there Freddy! I have one suggestion...I am kind of a stickler for hearing old spring reverb on a retro tune like this, kind of gives it that heyday feel, know what I mean? If it were me I might add some slight delay to the hats, snare and guitar. You might already have something on it but my ears aren't picking it up. Nice!

Hi Tim.  Thanks for the suggestions and for responding.  I do have a bit of 'verb on the lead guitar but I like your suggestion.  I think that indeed I will play around with adding a bit more.  I tend to have a habit of using too much especially where it is not warranted but I think that I am finally getting the hang of it.

Hi James.  Thanks for the kind comments and I very glad that you liked it.

Truer words were never spoken.  Freddy, your lyrics and sense of fun are getting more and more refined all the time.  Your rock/blues style is always welcome to my ears.  This mix has a nice, open sound to it that comes across very well on my monitors, and your performances made me smile.  Well done, my friend.
