From system requirements I see that X2 needs Win 7 or 8, Anyone successfully use XP Pro with it?

Yes people have run X2 successfully on XP. Cakewalk has stated that future updates will not run on XP so you will be stuck at the current release.

The XP OS is on my 2003 P4 Build which worked so flawlessly for so many years I have been hesitant to do anything I even have not updated the XP to SP3 because it worked so well so far but it is a little long in the tooth, so if I get inspired to upgrade my DAW and soundcard. It might just be time to do so. I am running 8.5 Producer on XP SP1 and so far it is pretty darn good. I do have an INtel Core 2 Duo machine I use for office work that will run 7 or 8 All In need to do is swap out the soundcards do a clean install of the newer OS and run my P4 as my work computer (I estimate masonry in my home office, and the P4 will do for that task easy)

Wow you never installed XP SP3? - Wow that was THE upgrade that made it really good :).

Whilst I'm fairly sure it will work Win8/X2 on your system I'm not sure the experience will be greatest..
Try running the Windows 8 upgrade wizard see what you get.

Your system is getting pretty old it appears, PC's tend to conk out after 6 to 8 years ... I would consider this a great excuse to upgrade to a brand new Windows 8 PC.... anyway that's what I would do - personal opinion...

Cheers...

yeah..I'm in the same boat with a Echo Layla 3G PCI card...  running 7.02 like a rock.  I drool at X2, but always tell myself, the program won't make my music better...just me.  and I understand better tools too.

After Win 8 settles in, (and I've been waiting a tad and now it's X2! )... is time to jump.  When i7 processors are the norm and not top dawg.

Wow those P4's run HOT if I remember rightly. I had a P4 laptop and that thing was scorching (literally). My hands would sweat when I typed.

I think they were still using Nimh batteries then too - dam batteries had to be replaced after only 8 months. All hail the might Lithium battery!

Now when are we gonna get ultra cheap alcohol powered fuel cells. I could give the thing a nip of old Jack Daniels in a pinch!
