I sort of expected that for the 64 plugs. When you don't get a prompt as to where to install, they always default there due to Stein being the creators of VST or something.

What was really weird for me was, I've always received a prompt for UAD installs. My 32 bit folder is program files (86)/ Cakewalk/VST_32. It installed my 32 bit plugs there automatically which was cool.

My 64 directory is the same as above only in the c: program files without (86) and then Cakewalk/VST_64. But the install sent them to the same directory as yours...so I just moved them. It worked both ways though.

Folks:

Had similar issues here, specifically, after directing the plugin manager to the correct path (program files (NOT x86)/universal audio/powered plugins, many of my UA instances on a pre-existing project were still 32 bit/bitbridged.

Not really a huge deal, since BB has worked pretty well for me, but in an effort for Sonar to update ALL older projects with the proper 64 bit UA plugs, I went to the default UA 32 bit install path (for me:  program files (x86)/cakewalk/vst plugins), CUT the "powered plugins" folder and pasted it to my desktop, i.e., essentially deleting it from the scan path but keeping it just in case.

I re-scanned plugins, closed the project, closed Sonar (X2, BTW), re-opened Sonar and the same project and ALL the previous 32 bit UA plugs were now 64 bit with the settings intact.

Hope this helps if anyone is having the same issue.

No more UAD for this kid.  LOUSY policies of stranding customers...

Plus Sonar is now officially not supported.

I just got off the phone with UA they have no plans to stop supporting Sonar as a matter of fact the new version is supposed to be more compatible with Sonar.  I am going to try the install and see, but I think whomever said they were not supporting Sonar was incorrect, they have all intentions of support to the fullest extent and were very helpful and said they had heard the RUMOR and it was not the case...

Sure they will support Sonar, just not UAD-1, Sonar means sales...UAD-1 not so much.

My understanding is that UAD is ending the official support of Sonar.  This may not matter for UAD 6.4 but it may make a difference in future UAD software releases.   If I was sticking with Sonar, I wold be reluctant to invest too much more into UAD.

That language on the uaudio website means that there is no "right" so to speak to count on it working in Sonar, but that there is always the possibility that they will take it into consideration.  They are just not locked into any representations.  So for someone thinking of buying a lot of UAD plugins and hardware for Sonar, there certainly is some risk - but I suppose suppose differently people will weigh that risk differently!
