Lynn
Hello to all my forum friends.  I've been vacationing until recently which is why I haven't been around.  I was inspired to write this new song about two weeks ago, and now it's ready for your perusal.  I've changed my production methods drastically since my last song, and this is the result.  As usual, I wrote and recorded everything, and I  eagerly await your thoughts.  All I've learned from this forum has been applied to this production.  I want to thank all of you in advance for your time and effort regarding this and all past productions.  I couldn't have done it without your help.

8/18/14- Here is the result of my remix per your suggestions.  I added more "beef" to the low end and balanced the left and right channels.  Hope this works.

I don't know what the deal is with Soundclick but I had to find your page, before I noticed the link in your sig, and click the download button to get it to play.

I love the groove. I especially like the way the left and right are playing off of each other and that cool bass line.

Maybe the snare could come up just db? The bass drum seems to thud out to me. The toms have more oomph than the bass drum but the toms sound fine. This is subjective but I like the drums from the listeners perspective rather than the drummers.  The section at 2:06 - 2:35 is really cpp;! Nice change.

Excellent tunage!

Lynn,

Really good song and arrangement.   I can't decide whether I like the vocal processing or not, at first I didn't like it but by the end it was growing on me a little;)   I would be curious how it sounds clean, i.e. without the modulation or whatever is on the track.   The music is really engaging, very cool.

Man, I really like this one.  Actually, I like what you have done on the vocals on this number.  The FX gives the vocals just a hint of Z Z Top.  Your wide separation really highlights the great interplay between the left and right panning ---- cool!  You have done a great job on the arrangement --- very different and very cool!
Excellent song Lynn!!!

Thank you all for your kind remarks.

Robert, I'll take your observations about the drums into account when I revisit this.  This was the first song I ever did with AD2, so I'll take some time with this to get it right.

Mark, thanks for listening.  The vocal processing in this comes from Izotope Nectar, and it reminds me of a Pink Floyd song that I like.  I made sure that the dry vocal was sounding good to my ears before applying the f/x.

Freddy, thank you for your kind words.  I hadn't thought of ZZ Top, but now that you mention it, I know what you mean.  This f/x was new for me, and I just wanted to give it a try.

Lynn you're always surprising me with a new style well done...very creative use of vocal effects and I think the bass carries it.The mix is clean I want to hear this later on my monitors. NICE!!!! WELL DONE!!!!!

Ditto on the drums. Fatten the snare and kick and bring them up a bit. You might want to add some modulation to the left synth that plays off the guitar so that its resonance varies a bit over time. It will add some motion to it.

Awesome work my friend!

Dan

Reminds me of early Genesis.  Like what you did with the panning.  Good big space in the middle for the vox.  I'm trying do more of that.  Like transition alot.  Awe sweet at 2:30...like that alot.  Guitar on right sounds alot like the guitar on "When Doves Cry"...like it.  I'd like a slightly fatter bass and kick.  Nice job.

Guys, thanks for you helpful comments.

Tim, I hope it sounds good on your monitors.  I appreciate your time.

Chas, you've inspired me to consider making a video for this.  Thanks for your input.

Dan and Don, thank you both for your awesome comments.  It seems there's a growing consensus about the drums.  I can't wait to play with them again.

All these comments help me a great deal and encourage me.  Much grass!
