  • Installing EZDrummer was a Mess - RESOLVED (p.2)

Toontrack SOLO is a standalone application to host EZDrummer and others. It's not a VST plugin and doesn't contain EZDrummer in itself, it just can host it, so you don't need to launch an entire DAW to play Toontracks instruments (I have no idea whether Solo is restricted to hosting Toontrack plugins). You apparently ran/got the wrong installer.

I posted an instruction set at my old forum a while back.  It should still be relevant.

Hey, guys.  Thanks for all the help.  I erased everything, downloaded the installers and updaters again, started from scratch, and EZDrummer is now installed.  Apparently either the link or download was corrupted.  Also, it was not obvious that installing required the two msi files, but that was easy once everything was downloaded.  I put the dll in c:\program files\cakewalk\vstplugins and that worked just fine.

The install and authorization was not well-explained but I seem to have stumbled through it.

It only took me about 2 minutes to like EZDrummer better than Session Drummer 3.  Even in this basic installation, the drum sounds are far better than the built-in or add-on SD3 drums I have.  EZDrummer sounds like a perfectly recorded session player and not like a plug-in.

Thanks again for helping me.  I cannot believe this program only cost $29.

You're gonna like EZ Drummer Konrad.  I have Superior Drummer 2.0 and love it.

It's great.  You will love it, konradh.  It's a whole different ball game to SD, or any of the other drum progs, IMHO,  If you use loops, the MIDI content is great, too.

If you think this one sounds good, wait 'til you hear the EZX.  They come on sale quite often.  The nashville is particularly nice - don't be put off by its name, it's not just country.  I also like the classic and the claustrophobic too.

My music is a weird mix of Broadway and Country with some orchestration (!) so a Nashville kit does not scare me at all. .   Based on the built-in kits, I would have NO hesitation buying expansions.

Looking at the list of expansions. I think drums will be my Christmas present.

Also...keep an eye out on Ebay for AudioDeluxe sales.  I bought both Nashville and Latin Percussion for quite a bit less than it was selling for even on their website.  They will have stuff listed on Ebay with a "Make an Offer" button.  I made them an offer for the two EZX kits.

I offered them a song and a dance for the two.  I didn't have to sing or dance for them....but they accepted my offer :) .  And this was when they were still selling for more than they are now.

You might try shooting them an offer on Ebay....can't hurt and you just might get a heck of a deal.

Keep an eye on the sales for sure.
I think I have most of the EZX's, except Twisted and the newest one (it'll be on sale soon enough).
The only dud is "Number One Hits" (the one thing in the world I have, that BAPU does not! Maybe BAPU IS smarter than the average bear?)

Oh, and you might put SOLVED in the thread title.
