If I am working on a drum track using a drum map and I select say, quantize and audition the effect before committing, I see midi data on the meter but no sound. The track plays fine otherwise. I remember having this problem in 5. Am I missing something? I just don't understand why it won't play.

I've found this only occurs when I am using a drum map. The synth preview out is set to SD3 and if I remove the drum map audition works. Something must be set to where audition won't play with a drum map in. Anybody know the fix to this?Like I said 5 did this to me also so it must be a setting???. I was going to call cake with this but their page says the number is 888-CAKEWALK That is 11 digits doesn't it need to be 10? My phone says invalid number!

Anybody tried this with drum maps?

IIRC I think it might be a Session Drummer thing rather than drum maps. I think I had the same thing with SD3 but my hardware drums played back okay, I'll try later when I get into my studio.

If you can't audition a soft synth it's also worth checking that the audio engine is turned on. It's the icon at the bottom left of the transport display window.

Thank you for the reply. This used to happen before I used session drummer.(Battery1 sonar 4&5) I don't think it is the audio engine but I will check. If I take the drum map off/on audition works/doesn't work with it. (unless it turns itself off/on every time I'll check) As I have said, I feel like it is a output routing issue with drum map maybe. As you know, you can select what audition previews through and somehow drum maps stop the flow but I cannot figure out what to change. I looked into this years ago and gave up using process/undo as a workaround. I really like using drum maps so I can have tracks where I want with them labeled & in the order like I want and not worry about durations etc., but this is really a bummer!

It may be a soft synth issue but I'm not sure exactly what you're hearing (or not) should I say.

I can audition notes in a drum map from the drum map manager if the note is assigned to hardware but not a softsynth, neither SD3 or TTS-1.

However if I select a clip and audition that then it does audition as expected, both hardware and softsynths hits.

To conclude the bug seems to relate to auditioning a row within the drum map manager and only if it's assigned to a soft synth.

Thanks Karl. I am trying to audition in "piano roll view" with a drum map (Where the notes look like a point kinda like the state of Iowa)I don't know if that is what you mean by row within drum map manager or not.I don't have the drum map manager open, just piano roll view. I wonder if it is a bug.Like I said this has been (not) doing this since producer 5 for sure. I think it is strange no one else has complained! I mean it is pretty common to simply be using a drum map and edit in piano roll(drums) then want to audition quantitize or something before committing. It drives me nuts this should just work! Let me ask when you work on soft synth drums do you use drum maps or other? I want to be able to reach more than one kit using one track if necessary and have them show up in the order I want labeled like I want no durations. I thought drum maps were the way to go but people must be using some other method because surely they would have been stonewalled by this problem also. Drum maps are easy for the drummer to see and understand when editing!

I didn't try in the PRV I'll give that a whirl but it wouldn't surprise me if it's related to the drum map "non audition" bug.

I use drum maps an awful lot but mainly use hardware drums. Drum maps are a great feature but they do need a little TLC not least the actual editor.

I'll check the PRV later and let you know what happens here but I haven't noticed it before.

This might be related to the fact that when you set the output of a synth to a drum map, you lose the ability to Mute/Solo either the Midi track OR the Audio track and the other associated track does not get Muted or Soloed with it.

Inserting a Drum Map seems to break the connection.

This has been going on since at least 8.5

I know it did it to me with 5. I am surprised this hasn't been "fixed". Or more so more people haven't complained. I mean a lot of people use drum maps, process effects and want to audition them first right?
