This is what I received from Cake Tech: "This is happening because you have the output of this track set to a drum map. If you set it to your Microsoft Wavetable Synth or another synthesizer then you will be able to hear the preview within the quantize view." I knew that already but it seems you can't audition with a drum map. BUMMER. Everytime you want to audition an effect you have to switch to piano roll view (pain). That Sux. Talk about the hard way to do something easy.

Anyway I've been working this afternoon with a drum map assigned to Session Drummer using the drum pane in the PRV.

I could audition drum sounds by clicking on the drum name in the drum name pane and by selecting notes and pressing Shift + Spacebar. Where you referring to something else though?

One thought is the audio engine. Is that definitely running? If it drops out you won't hear notes from softsynths unless you press playback.

To stop it dropping out go to Prefs---->Audio---->Playback & Recording and check "Play effect tails after stopping" that should fix it.

Audio engine definitely running. I am only lassoing notes (select) and then process effect/quantitize/ audition button = nada Take the drum map off and works fine. I am not clicking on the drum name just selecting notes. Why would you hit shift+spacebar?

Oh sorry I don't have all my shortcuts memorized yet! Have you tried this just hitting the audition button? According to cake tech (posted above you can't audition when in a drum map. You have to take it off and rout the output to the synth. GRRR.

I haven't tried auditioning via the quantize dialogue. I'll give that a whirl later but the selection audition definitely works although drum map row audition doesn't.

Just tried the audition from the quantize dialogue and no it doesn't work with soft synths in a drum map. Seems there's several inconsistencies there.

If you make a selection of notes in the PRV or a clip in the TV you can press Shift+space to audition them, that works with a drum map okay.

In the drum map manager the same key press is supposed to audition the current row, that works with hardware drums but not soft synths.

After much misunderstanding Cake tech following my instructions and set up exactly were able to re create this problem (been going on since producer 5) Yay!! I just am amazed this hasn't really bothered more. It seems a common thing to use a drum map and then want to audition in drum veiw. Perhaps some day I will be able to if fixed!!!!
