Hi

I've been using HS7XL for some years now and I'm thinking of upgrading to Sonar X2 Studio. Here in the UK from www.dv247.com you can get Sonar X1 Studio for £79 with a free upgrade to X2 if you buy before 31 December 2012. Seems like a good deal to me!

However I'm a bit concerned by my PC spec which is a tad lacking on the processor requirements - but over and above on RAM. According to Cakewalk the minimum system requirements are:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.67 GHz / AMD Phenom Quad Core 9750 2.4 Ghz or higher 2GB of RAM
As you'll see from my sig, I'm not quite there on the processor. In practice, is this likely to make a difference? Are any of you guys running X1 or X2 on lesser machines? There's usually some headroom built into these specs but if my rig isn't up to scratch I'll stick with HS7!

Thanks guys

There is a trial version of X2 Producer http://www.cakewalk.com/P...s/SONAR/Web-Trial.aspx Download it and see if your PC can handle what you want X2 to do.

+1 on the trial = you get a free shot at looking at its stability and features on your system.

Definitely check out the trial, but I can tell you the processor will run X2 fine. I was running Win7 32-bit with 4GB until a few weeks ago (I added 4GB more and installed Win8 64-bit for about $80). You'll obviously have to bounce tracks earlier on big projects than if you had a faster processor, but other than that the processor can still handle pretty much anything that you throw at it.
