I enjoyed that quite well done.

Why, thank you, Wookster.

Well done.

This is kept interesting the whole way through. Instrumentation is well played and the track allowed to breathe.

I thought the intro was a little loopy on the drums for jazz, which actually suited a more dance type track actually(I was hoping it was gonna go dancy actually!) .I would think of manually trying to add some subtle variations and dynamics to the intro drum section.

There is a lot of work with arrangement, particularly drum arrangements towards the end which really fits the bill.

Thanks, Cian!

Funny, the intro was tweaked from its original pattern, but I probably spent the least amount of time on it vs. everything else (and particularly the last 30 seconds or so).   So certainly no argument there!

Thank you for listening.

Very cool mix! You really did nail that "live" sound and I love the placement of the instruments as well. Well done!

SteveC . . . what a lovable little track ! Made me chuckle, very fun to listen to, and I don't think I've heard anything like this in a while. Rhythmically creative, unpredictable, yet there is a recurring theme . . . it's not only jazzy - it also has a lot of theatre about it.
So . . . what, you just woke up in a jazz mood one day ? (I've heard your other stuff, and it's very different)
I really like the way you have freed yourself from the 4/4 time signature.

I really like this Steve. It's very different, unique and as some have already stated you've captured a nice live feel here. Great recording and performance.

I also enjoyed "Mermaid and the Boy". Insert "You Rock" emoticon here...

@ Dan - Thanks!   Even though there are only four tracks I did have to mess with the panning and width of each one to get them to sit right, or at least reasonably realistic!

@ Ecurb - Thanks... I like "lovable".       Being a jazzy type number I did want it to have a little "liveliness" in the performance and bit of unpredictability within the given framework.   And yes, I more or less thought "hey, I like this acoustic bass sound, it bet it would work well in a jazz tune".   Hey, whatever it takes.

@ George - Thank you.   I certainly was going for something a little different.  Once it started to lock in the live thing just seemed like the natural thing to do.   Unfortunately, though, I have no connection with the Mermaid and the Bouy - that was a bit of Forum Monkey business.   I like that song!

The mix generally blends, but it sounds a bit too distant for my taste.  Fun composition.

very cool Steve - this would fool most people - the nuances of each instrument are superb and the use of reverb is perfect.
