I opened Kontakt 5 yesterday(in stand alone as well as in Sonar) and when loading Strummaker IV, Kontakt stated it couldn't locate some 230 samples. However, a couple of acoustic guitars do work (the first 6 string & 12 string choices), but not the rest.

I haven't done anything to the files (I installed this more than a year ago and haven't touched them) and did point the Kontakt browser to the correct folder (where it's always been....within the SM-IV library content). I even pointed the browser to the dedicated samples HD, but it still couldn't find the missing files.

I believe this is a Kontakt 4 library and not sure if that has anything to do with it? (didn't try to use it in K4 yet).
Any ideas?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Kontakt version was the culprit.
I've always found it a bit annoying that there's so much stuff for Kontakt
which isn't backwards compatible.

I'm inclined to think that as well Kalle......I'll check Kontakt 4 tonight and see if this is true or not.

SM4 is  Kontakt 4 instrument, but it works fine under K5 as well. I doubt that a missing-files dialog would be the result of a Kontakt version mismatch, since any version dependencies are going to be encountered in the instrument definitions rather than in the samples. Either K4 or K5 should have no problems loading .ncw files from either version (e.g. you can create a new instrument in K4 using K5 samples).

I count 794 .ncw files in a single folder. How many do you have?

Thanks Bit, I'll check it tonight and confirm....

Good grief......I opened up Kontakt 4, everything loads up fine. Opened up Kontakt 5, everything loads up fine. Opened up SM4 in Sonar, everything loads up fine.

Go figure......

Bizarre. I wonder if Kontakt had some other problem loading files and erroneously reported them as "missing". Like how SONAR always seems to tell you your disk is full whenever it can't write a file, regardless of the real reason. Just guessing here, but maybe there wasn't enough free RAM at that moment, or your disk drive took an error while reading them.

Yeah Bit, that was odd....I really don't know what happened. Regarding RAM, I do have 16GB's and didn't have anything else running at the time (just Kontakt standalone or Kontakt in Sonar). Possibly, the HD took an error....IDK.

Just glad it's working.....hopefully, I can remember what I was trying to record at the time......
