  • How do I get Sonar to recognize USB input?

I'm trying to hook up my Fender Mustang Floor multi-effects unit to Sonar. I have a USB cable hooked up between the Mustang Floor and the computer. The computer recognizes that it's there. Sonar asked me if I wanted Sonar to recognize it and I said yes. But I can't seem to get the Mustang Floor routed to an audio track in Sonar. The Mustang Floor isn't in the list of available inputs for the track. It's also not in the list of audio drivers under Preferences. I'm not sure what to do next.

Are you trying to use it like a VST f/x?  If so, you need to scan it via the plug in manager.  It has audio outputs on the back of the unit, so you may have to run a line out of the Mustang to inputs of your audio converter to hear anything.  A bit more information from you would be helpful.

Just throwing this out there, not totally familar with the Mustang. But is there something in the utilities menu you may have to change for it to talk to Sonar?
I'm guessing that your using the Mustang as your DAW interface or are you trying to go through another interface?
Do you have the lastest drivers for the Mustang?
What is this FUSE software they touch on in the manual? Is it some sorta tone shaper or ?

I'm not familiar with the Mustang Floor, but I have the Mustang II amp so I guess they'll be similar. You need to install the ASIO driver from the above link then SONAR will see it in the list of audio interfaces in Preferences/Audio/Devices.
Note the USB interface is input-only - you'll need to monitor through a different interface.
If you haven't already done so, download the latest version of Fender Fuse from here - this will let you deep-edit settings, store and recall presets, etc. also will allow you to download the latest firmware.

I'm very impressed with my Mustang amp - I hope you have a great time with the Floor!

Yeah, I have audio outputs on the back of the Mustang Floor, but since there's also a USB connection, I figured that might be the best sound quality(?). I downloaded the Fender ASIO driver mentioned here, but that disabled the M-Audio drivers that I had set up to recieive MIDI and audio signals and also send the sound from Sonar out to my studio monitors. When I went to Edit/Preferences in Sonar, it looked like I have to choose between the Fender ASIO drivers and the M-Audio ASIO drivers because they can't both be enabled at the same time. I don't know much about ASIO drivers. I'm just trying to figure out how to use the Mustang Floor to record an audio track while I still have my M-Audio interface active. Maybe I just need to use the audio outputs on the Mustang Floor?

You can only use  one ASIO driver at a time.  Its different for WDM type drivers. If all you have is ASIO and you need the M Audio to work with Sonar use the audio outs of the Fender device and connect it to the M Audio line inputs.

John is right.

Ignore StarTrek's obsession with MOBOs and latest drivers.  They are important, but sometimes it's not the only answer.

If you're using ASIO, then Sonar, or any App, can only use one "input" at a time.

Do as John says.
