  • Sonar X2: How to route Jamstix 3.5 midi out to BFD2 Midi in?

When I set these up as instrument tracks, I don't have the output options necessary.  If I split the instrument tracks, I can route the Jamstix midi out to the BFD midi in, but BFD's midi and instrument track are not connecting and no sounds are played.  Please help me with how to do this.

I had to do 2 things to get it to work,  1. Make sure Jamstix  VST properties (Sonar Synth properties) have Midi output enabled and 2. I had to create a dummy audio track for Jamstix even though I wasn't using audio with it.

Could you give me more details on that?  How do you send the midi output of Jamsitx to the midi input of BFD 2?

Once you've enabled Midi Output for Jamstix you should then have the option to set BFD's Midi input to Jamstix.  Set an audio track to get it's input from Jamstix also as you normally would if using just Jamstix and then it should work.

I did it using separate midi/audio tracks not instrument tracks, not sure if it will work with Instrument tracks or not.

OK...I enabled Midi Out from the Jamstix Properties window.  Now I can route the output to the input of BFD2.  However, after having done so, ALL softsynths are now receiving that midi output from Jamstix.  If I try to record something on another softsynth track, all it does is record the midi output data from jamstix, even though the other synths are not routed to Jamstix output.  The metronome is also no longer heard.  Any ideas?

Set the Jamstix midi channel to something like 10 and and BFD to receive on 10 and set the other synths to use a different channel would be the only thing I could think of.
