Hi I have been using Sonar 5 for years, been very happy....upgraded to X1, not happy. Dislike the interface very much. So I want to revert to 5. Problem: I bought Arturia SEM V....I can make it show up and it is playable in X1, but for the life of me I cannot make it show up in 5. It is there when I scan for it using the Scan Wizard... meaning: I have successfully pointed to the VST folder) but when the scanning is done, it simply doesnt show up anywhere. I have a number of VSTs (no more than say 15-20} ...could it be that 5 has a limit, and the last one installed wont show? Any other hints? regards Håkon

i have encountered this problem in X1 and 2, so not sure if it relevant to older versions, but sometime I have to reselect my customized plug in layout. As in choosing to show all plugins and then selecting my own manageable list again.

thanks again, but I dont think it works that way in Sonar 5.... there is no layout concept to take into account when you insert a soft synth (or audio track) guess i will just have to write off the purchase of the SEM....as well as X1 (which makes me feel like my screen has been reduced to the size of my wrist watc....anyone else feel that way? :-)

I updated to X1 from Sonar 6, which I think was quite similar to Sonar 5.  I even got a Sonar 5 manual with it, with a half page update.

What is it you find so terrible?

It realty threw me at first, but after reading the manual and trawling the forum, it was fantastic.  I can't believe I stayed on 6 for so long.  It genuinely is worth persevering.

I believe VST 2.4 was released right after the release of Sonar 5, which if I remember correctly uses cakewalk’s VST wrapper. Don’t know if this is the problem or not.  Can’t remember if Sonar 5 has a plug-in manager but if it does have you looked at ‘show excluded’ assuming it has that also. You can always use the Arturia in standalone mode.
