Are you using a custom windows cursor by any chance? I've had those act strange and disappear and only show up when you hover over the windows taskbar just as you describe.

Do you have a regular wired mouse you can try to see if it still happens? Sometimes those wireless mice (or any fancy HIDs)  that use special drivers do stupid crap.

Has it done this since day 1 of installing Sonar?
Normal operation is that the mouse cursor will disappear when adjusting a parameter and turn back on when releasing the left mouse button.

What I gather from your post is that your cursor is remaining hidden.
If it hasn't worked properly from day 1, I would check your mouse pointer options and turn off mouse tails.

If it has recently started doing this, what changes have been made to the system?

Yeah, I know but sometimes drivers screw around with stuff. If this started happening recently did it happen to have begun after the latest round of Windows updates? Sometimes that can do it. My trackball requires special drivers and at first it wasn't playing nice with my DAW but I got it working. If it doesn't use a generic Windows driver I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. Sometimes that fixes things.

Are you using X1?  Which build.  I had the disappearing mouse cursor happen for a while in X1, then it just stopped.  I wonder if it stopped after going to X1d, or whether it just randomly stopped.  Have not had it for months in X1, or at all in X2.
