QuickTime's demise may be more abrupt than we expected. The Department of Homeland Security has issued an urgent bulletin urging all users to uninstall QT immediately. Within government agencies, this will likely be treated as more than a suggestion. I'm guessing the army and navy aren't big Rhyme Genie users.

I've been in contact with Idolumic (Rhyme Genie/TuneSmith) today. After uninstalling QT, TuneSmith throws up a couple of error messages (24U SimpleSound extension can't load; and then a second one prompting for a QT download). Deleting or renaming the extension (SimpleSound.fmx.renamed) in TuneSmith's Extensions folder gets rid of the first error message (that was thrown by the extension), but the second (thrown by TS) remains.

I'll update when I know more.

UPDATE: I got an email from Idolumic this morning stating that an update to the Windows version of TS that adds an option to disable audio recording should be out in a week.

At least that'll get rid of the error messages...until they (hopefully) come up with a permanent solution that provides audio recording support.

Wow.  Such a warm and cozy place we have here.

Can't take a little ribbing eh?

The ribbing is for your pleasure, not mine.

No rimming in Bapuji Mansion!

I uninstalled QT 7.
Melodyne 4 and AD2 seem to be OK without it.  Sony Vegas 13 doesn't seem to be affected either.
So far so good.

I downloaded the quicktime 7.7.6 installer just in case, but probably won't need it.
