Hi all, this thread is for Sonar's Pro Channel satisfied users and is not my intention to do a like\unlike Pro Channel thread. This is to encourage Cake staff to develop a Pro Channel Shop with a possibility to buy a Cake and third parts Pro Channel Modules. We have a clear example with IK Multimedia with their Amplitube Custom Shop.I would like to see a prestigious software companies like Softube,PSP,Audioware,Voxengo,Brainworx,iZotope,Focusrite,NI,Overloud,Sonnox,SpL and why not....Waves,to develop their vst plugins for Pro Channel but at a reasonable price for the Sonar Expanded Users. I would like to see in the Pro Channel format emulations like Pultec,Red 7,DBX 160,Summit Audio,Neve and so on.It would be nice.Best.Roby

Sounds like a good idea. I'd love to be able to use the IK plugs inside the ProChannel, but yet I wouldn't want to buy it again ... and I can sort of do this already using the fx chains, can't I?

But on the other hand, ProChannel modules don't work in other applications, so why shouldn't I buy the regular VST that I can use everywhere rather than commit myself to the ProChannel (which I still can't control from a control surface ... upps - this thread wasn't mean to be like/unlike, but this comment had to be placed again ...)

Yep - either stick them in  a chain or just drag them across - it works!

Better still make some money by selling their Pro-Channel modules in other peoples shops.

A bit like this?...

Trouble with a Pro-Channel shop is that we'd have all been looking at the same handful of items that have appeared over the last 18 months.

Contrast that with the Props RE shop which has only been open a third of the time that Pro-Channel modules have been available.

Trouble is that no third party other than SoftTube have bought into the Pro-Channel idea as of yet, I think that was partly a marketing mistake by creating an elite tier of X1 'Expanded' users that could use them.  A better idea would have been to give away the 'Expanded' update to producer users and make the money back from a larger customer base for PC modules, being as the ability to add modules has become integrated into X2 Producer anyway.

I told 'em, but did they listen...nope...

If they managed to get a myriad of PC modules from 3rd party vendors - with the solution Softube offer where you get the PC module and the VST and/or some special PRo Channel only offerings - this would not only be great for us users, it would be a great way to make money I believe

+1

I absolutely love the ergonomics of the ProChannel. No matter where I'm working (track or console) I can select a track and get access to it's all pro channel effects. What frustrates me, is that it feels too limited at the moment, even with fxchains 2.0.

I think the main issue is getting third parties to actually write ProChannel versions, or getting Cakewalk to ramp up development in house.

A prochannel shop would be great. The only downside is that I'd end up spending too much £££.

I really like the PC and the quality of the cake - and other
modules in it,
But........
The vst (2 )interface as a common format for all software developers is more and more getting destroyed.
Steinberg started this with the needles VST 3 interface.
The VST 3 modules are not possible to use in every DAW and have often to be payed as an extra.
If Cake is creating a PC-module-shop,hopefully the modules were
also delivered in the VST (2) format without extra charge so that it is possible to use them in every DAW.
Hopefully the Vst effekt interface is not on the way to be completely removed!
