Looks FUN!  Then, I noticed it needs an iLok.

They lost a sale here.

I don't get the hate for the ilok. I love it. It's an easy and elegant solution for drm. When I've had major drive failures, or am going through a major machine upgrade, the ilok stuff is always the fastest and easiest stuff to install.

no response codes, no NI service center and searching for dozens of serial numbers, no machine hardware matching (toontrack drives me nuts - if I turn my internet on to authorize the software, and then off to run the machine - it disables the software I just authorized!)

ilok - set it and forget it. I like that.

I love this plugin ,,,,,,, The only problem .... You have to reload your preset every time you open your project ..... But Eventide is working on it right now ....... Audio Deluxe has it for less  ...... I'm really glad I picked up this one . It can get really wild or really normal but with more stereo color.

It isn't hate.

I don't like it because I find paying for hardware to continually verify your license is silly... and passe. The NI way does registration does NOT bother me, because I download patches when I need them after I validate/authenticate my license. Same with all the other plugz I have.

And the iLok adds $50 to the cost of the program.

So I don't support that system.

If there was a plug that tempted me to buy an iLok, this was it. Still managed to pass on it, though.

I find that all authentication systems have +/-. That said I really can't see myself spending additional money to prove I'm legit. If the vendor choses that path they will not be getting a purchase from me.

Don't recall the year but AutoDesk tried a dongle for their flagship product AutoCAD and the user community said 'Take a hike'. They removed the dongle requirement. I know I won't see that from Eventide but still: why should I have to pay money to legitimize a purchase I already made?

Regards,

horses for courses I suppose

but it doesn't add $50 to the cost of the program, it adds some percentage of that... if you have 10 ilok plugins, it's only $5 more... Virtually every other copy protection scheme is a major PITA in the event of a major machine upgrade or catastrophic hard drive failure. I've been through both, at least once - I know.

I hate spending hours and hours to re-authorize all the software I've already paid for... set it and forget it is the way for me.

I also don't understand how you are "paying for hardware to continually verify your license" you may not understand how the ilok works, because I'm not continually paying, so I'm not sure what you mean.

Regards,

That's an interesting perspective. I just look at it as a convenience cost and I'm happy to pay it as I've never had any problems, and it's a very elegant solution. It also allows me to move my software onto ANY MACHINE as long as I bring my ilok w/ me. I love that - it makes it like hardware. Wherever I go, I can install the software and use it- with no limits on machines, because the machine with the ilok is always authorized.

I simply don't want a dongle on my laptop. So I won't be taking advantage of this good looking piece of software.

I'm a pro AutoCAD user, their dongle was awful, and they got lost (or stolen) and thankfully the hardware dongle was ditched, thank goodness.

Personally, and it is a personal thing, I quite like the way I register all my music software. It's not as if I'm having to do it all the time.
