You know Glen when you call people "fanbois" you insult the vast membership of this forum.

But think about this, without the "fanbois" here who would offer you or anyone help?

I find it stunning that anyone here that has ever ask for help can feel free to use that term.

Not only is it wrong but needlessly upsetting.

I don't like the term fanboi either, it's really a euphemism for an apologetic, someone who excuses things. I don't think anyone here is letting CW off the hook for bugs.

Thankyou John for your quick reply so I could rectify the error on my part.
I have just looked up the meaning of “fanboi” @ http://www.urbandictionar...define.php?term=Fanboi

1 - fanboi = Someone who is hopelessly devoted to something and will like anything associated with thier particular thing.
This was/is my understanding and what I meant

Other definitions are
2 - Deliberate mispelling of the word 'fanboy' typically referring to an annoying, immature fan of a specific video game console.
fanbois typically spend most of their free time telling anyone who will listen how perfect thier console of choice is, and how inferior all other products are. fanbois will not stop annoying other people until everyone they know is converted to their way of thinking.

3 - Known for a complete lack of objectivity in relation to their preferred focus. Usually argue with circular logic that they refuse to acknowledge.

4 - Insult/chastise others for using public forums to express an objective opinion, no matter how constructive or, respectful it may be.

I offer a humble and complete apology to everyone and anyone who though that I meant it in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th definition.

Also it seems to me, at least within my circle of acquittance's that the phrase is used a lot looser then others perceive it to be.
Maybe it’s an Australian colloquial thing? I don’t know.

Let me reiterate by saying there was no offence intended, inferred or other wise. I will in future use Urbandictionary more often.

One again John... thank you for a quick reply

At my age, and having done so many things associated with manhood, having boy, in any form used to refer to me is an insult. I'm a Grandfather. I have served my country in combat I have done a lot of things in my life that does not deserve me being called a boy. Its careless talk of this sort that can lead to unfortunate results in real life and on this forum.

I don't for a moment think you meant to insult me personally but keep in mind that when anyone is insulted here we all are. You may not see this now but it also impacts negatively on you.

We are all in this together. We're here to learn and help each other. Why anyone wants to stereotype people is unknown to me. Take each on their own merits and give each as much leeway as you would want to have yourself.

Ultimately the use of the word fanboy is in violation of the TOS and should be stricken from everyones vocabulary.

The term fanboy is insulting. It's like those who like a product do it blindly? That is ALL people. From what I've noticed people are subjective here whether they like the product or not. People are writing from experience.

Somebody wrote earlier "here come the fanboys" shows a lot about their character. They might as well have written here comes the ars3holes instead.

Please stick your generalistic sentiments accordingly where they belong.

I would say a perfect description of a fanboy would be someone who came on this very forum about six months ago and stated, without a trace of irony or sarcasm, that "X1 was the most successful  SONAR release ever"

Ring any bells?

Now I would definitely consider that complete apology and mistruth of a statement to be an 'insult', both to the integrity and intelligence of a great many forum members who had nothing but trouble with the product when it was released.

I must add, I don't like the term 'fanboy' either, but when people spout rubbish like that in the face of the clear facts that tell a very different story, it's no wonder the word gets bandied about in thier company.

I may be mistaken but I think someone from Cakewalk said X1 had been the most successful SOnar ever. Could you find the thread Mr Helpful- I can't be arsed.

Who was that? Did it sell more than previous releases? If so then that's a fair statement. If  not who give a darn anyway? Where are the facts before you dis people? More to the point does anybody care because I honestly don't.

Just my tuppence-worth:-

I can only speak from my own experience of using Sonar and this forum.

Sonar (and possibly other DAWS and software) does seem to behave differently on different systems, and with different settings.  I had problems when I upgraded to X1, but they were mainly user error, or buffer settings related, etc.  The other issues had completely gone by X1d.  It was extremely stable.

I had quite a few crashes with X2, which all disappeared with the quickfix.  I now find it very stable once more.

I realise that this is on MY system.  On someone else's it may be hell, I don't know.  Just because someone may state that all is well and they like Sonar, when other people's experience is disastrous, doesn't mean that they are necessarily making it up or being a "fanboy", or whatever.  That may just be their experience of the product.

When someone posts on her saying "All is well, I love Sonar" I think "Oh, good, they're getting the same results as me."

When someone states that all is not well, I will try to offer any help, or point them to someone more knowledgeable,  in case it is a system specific problem, or, like me, user error.

When someone just slags Sonar off, without appearing to listen to any advice, then I might argue the point.

I think my long-winded point is:

Just because you're having a bad time, doesn't mean that anyone who is okay is Ahole, or a "fanboy".  It is just working well for them.

Exactly jb101-

To add no way would I be using X2 in production right now, those complaining about it really need to go back to X1 and come back in 6 to 12 months when it is patched. Stop gassing and report your issues to Cakewalk. I like X2 but its not suitable for production yet, but it will be. You can use it but you need to adopt perfectly manageable workarounds. Hilarious that people some think that the product would be released bug free in the first place, would rather storm out of the room and call people fanboys! Whatever..
