And Steinberg's DAW's are very likely to get major notation improvements as they just hired Sibelius' development team: http://www.steinberg.net/en/company/press/archive/2012/uk_rd_center.html.
I really hope that Cakewalk will keep up with the competition.

Even with my teeny experience with computers,Iv'e learned enough to know that ANY software is going to do weird things occaisionally, and nearly all problems are user error,or crappy setup.

As far as Steinberg,I v'e tried twice to use Cubase LE,and can't get past the e-licencer runaround to even get it to work ha ha,yet X2 everyday,a total breeze.

Why does everybody announce their "bye bye"?
Really gets under my skin.

Posers.....

May be there are scared by "fan boys"?

Even if these fan boys can not update the forum software (I see it is 2009... 3.5, I can also see that 2012... 3.9 exists),
they could create "Bugs and complain" thread (sticky, can be premoderated, with FAQ at the top) and so significantly cleanup the forum.

So far, SONAR is the most buggy commercial software installed on my PC. I like it! But that does not change the fact. If someone will say that is "my fault" or  "bad hardware", I can only answer: if you are real professional in music, most probably you just had no time to learn how computers works so long as I did...

PS. I had no intention to spam there, I wrote (much more detailed) priv. mail to one Platimum member but I have got no response.

The more complex the software, the more bugs and quirks you will have.  How hard the Sonar bugs hit you depend on what paths you go down.

I use a LOT of VSTs (mostly virtual instruments) and I work 90% in Staff, so the Sonar bugs hit me harder than most people.  Still, changing to another DAW and getting a different set of bugs is not worth it to me--and I find Sonar support and forum good overall.

If I were going to change, I would probably take a look at Studio One v2, but I would rather spend my time on writing and recording than starting over.

I do feel sorry for the OP: the need to make a dramatic last statement tells me he is probably very frustrated and that is a shame.

I'm not objectionable to anyone changing platforms.  In fact I am very interested in how it works out for you and I hope you will give an honest (non fanboy) assessment of how the new version of Cubase works out for you as compared to X2.

Nor am I, as long as your don't spit out the hatred, where on earth did this fanboy concept come from? I am agreeing X2 needs a service pack. Never use first iterations of software in production - simple as that. X1 is stable as a rock, it had 4 service packs - go figure. Same with any complex software sorry, if you use first iterations of software then you are the testers.

I'm sensing that the angst thing is still around, eh?

What is it with all the hairshirt stuff here?

I'm thinking that the computer might be the issue here a well, I've been tracking about 46 tracks with no problems...mind, my attention tends to be limited ....

Does Cubase still require a dongle? I'm just not a dongle convert. Why did that word ever get invented, lol. Say it over and over. Dongle dongle dongle. No dongle is good dongle as far as I'm concerned.
But each to their own dongle I guess.

I've got nothing against dongle users, just the dongles themselves.

Where am I going with this, I don't know.

Edit: I hope it works out well for you Annie.

Dave's post is more to my liking. A mature and wise point of view. A way to take an unpleasant thread and turn it into a learning thread.

I have used other DAWs. I own more DAWs than I need. Am I in jeopardy here because I do? Are members going to attack me because I have these other DAWs?

We wouldn't know that the OP is looking at Cubase without his post. If he hadn't posted would we care? I know that even after his post I don't.

As to X2 having bugs of course it does. Can it record 24 + tracks at the same time? Sure it can.  So we know that the issue the OP is having trouble with is peculiar to his system. Can it be fixed? Yes it can. Will we be able to fix it perhaps but we wont know unless the OP wants our help.

Should we be upset about it? I don't see why.
