So I got the TTS-1 to record thru my QX25 and I can see the MIDI track bits but it doesn't play back?
Not muted, no meter showing.

Question 2 = Why does the first instrument also play thru my keyboard when I change input channel to midi 3?

Can you see the notes in the track after you have recorded them?

G'day Glenn
Have you set the output within the TTS?
From memory (I don’t use it these days because of the 24/96 buggness) Click systems / Options / then set outputs

Super G -Yes the little midi bars representing notes are in the track.
GlennP- I have the TTS1 GUI up but see no place on it to set systems/Options/ output.

Maybe I need to go right back to setting up a track?
I just went to the browser and chose insert synth/TTS1 and ok to the simple instrument track.
It created a track with parameters to set.
Input = Alesis Omni
Output=my sound card (BR800)
Midi Channel 1 (set for sax, and it plays)
Bank = 15488 preset normal 0
Patch = none

Click “options” at bottom right hand side and “options” opens

I think this may have something to do with the settings in your track inspector.  You need to set the MIDI channel with the drop down menu under the FX bin to access the different channels in TTS-1.

Have you used multitimbral synths in X1 before?  I only ask this because I don't want to be giving you advice that you already understand and waste your time.

Nothing is wasted here. No, other than I did get SI stings and bass to work, I have no experience with soft synths.
I have just picked up a MIDI keyboard and am in the very early stage of learning about MIDI and all it's bewildering options.
The TTS1 just happened to be the first one I found that had some horn options.
Ok got the TTS1 System Options Outputs. They are all checked on output 1 by default.
Still no playback tho.
What should they be?

What should the I,O,C,B & P be set at in the track header?

I don't think System thing is anything to do with it.

Make sure the MIDI tab is selected in the Inspector.

Click on the "C" under the FX bin and choose which channel of the TTS-1 you want that track to access.

Alter the sound in TTS-1 by left clicking on the part's name (Piano1, by default, on all tracks) and choosing your sound from Presets, wind, etc.

If you want to use another sound, insert a MIDI track, select TTS-1 as output at the bottom, click on "C" again and choose another TTS-1 channel, and so on.

I hope that helps.

It's been a long time since I've used TTS-1, so I may not be 100 per cent right.

Shout back how you get on, or PM me if I can help more.

Oh, and don't expect the brass to sound like "The Phoenix Horns" or "Birth of the Cool".

Maddening.
There is even stuff happening on the meter during playback but nothing thru the speakers when i solo the track.
Solo off, I hear all the audio tracks fine.
the sound is fine playing thru the keyboard
It records  fine but the MIDI track does not playback.

You selected "Simple Instrument Track" when you inserted TTS-1, yes?

Set input to "AllInputsMIDIOmni"

Set output to "TTS-1"

Set MIDI Channel to "1" or "omni"

Having looked at your settings listed above, I think the parameter I've written in bold is the problem.

If that doesn't help, try Re-inerting TTS-1 and shift-dragging MIDIclip to it, and repeating abve.

It's gone 2A.M. here, so I'm off to bed. Hope you sort it out
